We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stella Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stella below.
Stella, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I have ever worked on was giving back to The Arthritis Foundation, to help find a cure for arthritis. As someone who has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, I understand the feeling the chronic illness comes with, mentally and physically. I support their project by selling old clothes on poshmark for a discounted price and sending them the proceeds!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis 3 years ago. I played sports all my life, it became my whole identity. When I was first diagnosed, I did not tell anyone and kept to myself, trying to continue my basketball and volleyball careers. It became to the point where I could not play sports anymore due to my chronic illness and the side effects from the medications. This was a turning point in my life, without sports, I felt like I had nothing. I started modeling to inspire others that they can do anything they put their mind to no matter what they may have going on in their life. I took a risk when I started modeling as I was not sure if I was going to enjoy it or not, but I continue to love my job more and more everyday. With the highs and lows through my chronic illness, it has showed me that a new door opens when one closes.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me is that I can help and inspire others they can do anything they put their mind to, no matter the circumstances. By sharing my story and talking with people, I have accomplished inspiring others, even if they cannot do something they love anymore, they can always find a new passion.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by creating authentic content. I don’t view social media as a job, but something I can have fun with. From posting get ready with me’s on TikTok to brand posts on instagram, I can inspire others to create authentic content. From showing my flaws and my journey through Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, I can help show people around the world on social media that it’s okay not to be perfect and they can accomplish anything!
