We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Darryl Arante. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Darryl below.
Alright, Darryl thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project that I’ve worked on was doing the photoshoot for Express clothing brand Holiday Campaign. I’ve been part of their Express Style Editor program for 2 years now, and from time to time they do incentive trips – a contest where selective Express Style Editors will go do photoshoots. Prior to the Holiday Campaign, I’ve already won 2 of their incentive trips – one in LA and one in Miami. Both were great, but the Holiday Campaign was the most confident I’ve ever been just because I already get to experience how to do professional photoshoots. What makes this meaningful to me because I get to see my face on the billboard in New York City!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my Youtube Channel back in 2020 when pandemic started. I got furlough from my day job and I’ve been watching a lot of men’s fashion contents. Everytime I watched one video, I tell myself that I could do what they do, and this is where it began. Obviously, the first video was cringe but proud at the same time because I managed to film and edit on my own. Ever since, I just produced videos as much as I can in relate to men’s fashion and lifestyle. I do long form and short form content videos now, but I enjoy producing more of short-form contents because it’s easier to edit. I mainly focus on doing men’s fashion product review and as of now, I’m receiving a lot of brand offers, whether paid or gift collaboration. Either or, I enjoy free products!
I think what set me apart from other content creators is my authenticity and genuine, honest review. Every time a brand ask me to do a product review, I always tell them that I’ll be honest with the review whether you paid me or not. And I think this is where my audience likes me the most, my honest review. As for what made me proud the most is my continuation of my content creation journey. I’ve seen many content creators who started their channel/page and gave up after couple months or a year. I got to where im at right now because of my mentality about this industry that building a business is not a sprint, but it’s a marathon.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a content creator is to be able to help others out there. I have low views but time to time I get to see an email or a comment saying that my video helped them a lot. For me, those type of comments always give me a boost of confidence and pushing my further to create more videos.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I simply want to produce videos that would impact others. Whether through product review or showing outfit ideas, I just want to be able to help guys out there who are struggling to find their style or want to get better in terms of fashion. I obviously wants more subscribers or views, but I think enjoying the process of creating and producing is what the most important for me.
