We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mandy Montane a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mandy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful projects are writing my book and creating an original song. It has been a goal for a very long time to make this dream a reality. To finally hold my very own book and have my own song was a dream come true. Also, the process of authoring my song lyrics, composing the melody and recording the music in a studio was something I will cherish forever.
Mandy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a mother, daughter, wife, author of books, songwriter, and writing workshop teacher. As a child, I was always engaged in imaginative play and still love creating unique characters and inventing magical worlds with my stories. I write books for children of all ages, including adults, and compose songs that move me. My mind and imaginative process always taps into my inner child and is centered around expressing pleasure, purpose and love through my art. My hope is to motivate others through my books and songs.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is being entertained with the creation process. I build all my own worlds and create my own characters the way I see them. I have fun with them and design the outcome of the characters story. If they are born into circumstances of neglect, I can generate prosperity, if they are unloved, I can create love within their experience. As a child, I was never bored and had a playful childhood. I constantly draw on that little girl within me and it brings joy to my life and is very much a part of who I am.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal driving my journey is to bring love and encourage creativity in others. The muse to which I do so is through teaching and writing.
