We recently connected with Terrell LaCour and have shared our conversation below.
Terrell, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents Lester and Odett LaCour were amazing and thoughtful parents. Being one of eight children, a twin, and in the middle, my parents showed love to us all. They did not have a favorite child; displayed love, kindness, gentleness, and discipline to us all. My parents showed me how to hustle hard, make wise investments, and prepare for the future. The future include expected and unexpected events. My parents stepped up and helped those in need, along with showing them spoken and unspoken love. The love and discipline that my parents provided to me, impacted my in my life in career, by showing spoken and unspoken love to strangers, family, and friends. This has also gave me courage to follow my dreams and do what is best for me and my community. I can remember giving the feeling to family to elderly neighbors, just by going to their homes and sitting and talking them for hours. I can remember my mother looking for me, as I was gone for hours a day to listen to my elderly neighbors. This sparked an interests in me and lead me to later be a Social Worker for abused and neglected adults. I continue to share a special interests in adults, which lead me also to be a Social Worker for abused and neglected children. I find passion in helping those who are not able or afraid to stand up or speak up for themselves.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I became interested in speaking up and supported persons who were no able or afraid to speak for themselves when I was young, defending younger siblings, as they were picked on by others. I found interests in helping other feel strong about who they are and what they have accomplished, as I learned to do this for myself. I found interests in helping others validate themselves as social media began to destroy others’ self-love and self-respect, along with seeing some many people being bullied at all levels as children and adults. Without the ability to validate oneself as a child, the child grows up as an adult, with the same incapability of validating themselves. I want everyone to love themselves and validate themselves and not listen or depend on society rules of what makes a person validate. We at I Validate Myself does not place judgment on anyone’s past or present. We are here to help and promote self-love and self-validation.
I Validate Myself have products as post cards, coasters, cups, t-shirts, and a variety of the items that promotes validating oneself.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My co-founders are Jerrell LaCour and Gabriel Swinney. Jerrell LaCour is my twin sister. Jerrell LaCour and I received both discipline and love from my family, and what a great person to help with I Validate Myself. I met Gabriel Swinney through way of him teaching my youngest daughter piano lesson. He is a positive inspiration for her and I knew he would be a wonderful co-founder of I Validate Myself. Jerrell LaCour, Gabriel Swinney, and myself met numerous of times to get the foundation, ideas, stories, and even negativity that we may encounter from other with beginning I Validate Myself and what we stand for. We are committed to help the community regardless of that people may say and think of us. Our major factor is to help those in the community to stand up for themselves along with how they feel about themselves.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
