Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kim Perry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kim, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
My customers are the most inspiring part of my business and any opportunity that I have to return the love and care they have shown me over the years, I will take. One of my favorite memories was when I watched a video montage honoring their pet that had recently passed. A big part of my story was to draw and paint animals that have passed for owners to have this portrait to remember their pets that meant so much to them. So, I did an original oil painting of her beautiful black lab and was able to surprise her with it. That moment we shared when I gave her the painting was one of my best memories with my customers. Seeing her joy and thankfulness that her beautiful pet was memorialized for her home was so special. Those moments are the ones that make me realize that I am in the profession and making the right decisions with my choices to support my clients.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m an artist whose work is a celebration of Kentucky’s rich culture and landscapes. My journey into the world of art began with a deep love for my home state and a desire to capture its essence through my paintings.
Specializing in bourbon, floral, equine, and lineman art, I use oil paints to create vibrant and expressive pieces that resonate with the spirit of Kentucky. My portfolio includes a variety of products and creative works, from traditional prints to unique items like coasters, notecards, luggage tags, and magnets. Each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for storytelling.
What sets my art apart is its heartfelt connection to Kentucky. Whether it’s the rolling hills of bourbon country, the elegance of thoroughbred horses, or the beauty of native flora, every brushstroke is a love letter to the state’s culture and heritage. I am proud to collaborate with clients who share my appreciation for Kentucky, offering personalized artworks that reflect their love for this unique place.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that my art is more than just paintings—it’s a way to cherish and celebrate Kentucky’s beauty and traditions. Whether you’re looking to adorn your home with a piece of Kentucky’s soul or seeking a meaningful gift that captures its spirit, I am dedicated to creating art that resonates with you on a personal level.
I invite you to explore my portfolio and connect with me to discover how we can collaborate to bring a piece of Kentucky into your life through art.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my social media presence has been a journey rooted in my passion for bourbon and equine art. From the outset, I focused on connecting with individuals who shared these passions and aligned with the culture I celebrate through my art—particularly those who appreciate Kentucky’s heritage and its unique charm.
I started by engaging authentically with my audience. This involved liking, commenting, and sharing content from followers who showed interest in bourbon, equine art, or Kentucky culture. By actively participating in conversations and discussions related to these topics, I established myself as a genuine contributor to the community.
Creating and sharing content that resonates with my audience has been key. I showcase not only my finished artworks but also behind-the-scenes glimpses of my creative process, stories about the inspirations behind each piece, and insights into Kentucky’s cultural significance. This approach has helped me build a deeper connection with my followers and attract new ones who appreciate the narrative behind my art.
Consistency in posting and maintaining a high standard of quality in my content has been crucial. Whether it’s sharing a new painting, announcing upcoming events, highlighting collaborations or just sharing my life with my audience, I strive to ensure that every post reflects the craftsmanship and passion that define my brand.
Beyond just posting content, I try to actively foster a sense of community on my social media platforms. This involves responding to comments and messages promptly, encouraging discussions among followers, and occasionally hosting giveaways or interactive challenges that encourage engagement.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
“Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear” by Elizabeth Gilbert is a fantastic resource that has deeply influenced my management and entrepreneurial thinking. Gilbert’s approach to creativity, fear, and pursuing passions resonates profoundly with me. Gilbert’s book encourages a mindset shift towards embracing creativity as an essential part of life. It taught me to value creative expression not just as a hobby, but as a fundamental aspect of personal fulfillment and professional growth.
One of the most significant impacts of “Big Magic” for me was gaining the confidence to see myself as an artist and to take the leap to pursue my artistic passions more seriously. Gilbert’s insights on creativity as a collaborative process between inspiration and disciplined effort helped me to approach my craft with a more empowered mindset.
