We recently connected with Erin Carere and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Erin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
As a full-time freelance artist and creator, I hear from others that I am a risk taker. And I guess I am!
But I have a different perspective.
You see, I don’t think of my life and career choices as scary. I’ve always been more curious than fearful, and I consciously cultivate that whenever anxiety or worry does crop up.
Long ago, I decided that I could trust myself. I could trust my impulses, and follow that creativity to wherever it led. Now, a couple of decades into this creative life, I cannot imagine a different way of being.
To anyone who is curious, I encourage you to follow that stirring in your heart. You can be grounded while following a dream. You can be resourceful and find ways to make – or let – your life work for YOU.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Renaissance woman.
No, I didn’t time travel here from 16th-century Florence, Italy….
(Or did I? Teehee!)
I am someone who is committed to excellence in more than one art and craft.
I am an award-winning screenwriter, actor, novelist, singer, songwriter, and film producer.
I am also a writing coach, editor, and script polisher.
Recent wins: In March 2024, a script I co-wrote with my husband, Carlo Carere, finished principal photography and moved into post-production! A thriller titled “Time Zero,” the film was directed by Damon Jamal, executive produced by Jumaane N’Namdi, and stars Tony-nominated Elizabeth Rodriguez and Oscar-nominated Eric Roberts.
Coming up next: in July, 2024, a really fun, easy, breezy, beach read novella, I wrote, “Bad Sugar Baby!” It’s a funny and heartfelt story set in Los Angeles, published by Finch Benson Books.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Well, my story is unusual, because my writing partner is my husband!
I was singing opera, and Carlo (originally from Naples, Italy) was my diction coach. I had a crush on him for months, but it was a professional relationship.
Until the job was over! We started dating and, years later, got married and started writing together.
And we plan never to stop!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes.
I decided long ago that whatever happened with my career, whether I became successful or famous or not, I would honor the gifts that I was given and use them to be of service to love, to humanity, to compassion, to nature, and to care.
