We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful OneSun. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with OneSun below.
Alright, OneSun thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My journey with music started with my Puerto Rican parents my dad(r.i.p.)who was a local dj in the Lower Eastside selling mixtapes and working as a merchant selling leather coats on orchard street for a living.my mom also worked in the .L.E.S. but wasn’t much of a hiphop fan.i kicked my 1st rhyme in 5th grade in the lunchroom which I wrote the night earlier.the response from everyone was overwhelming and pretty much cemented my relationship with hiphop 4 ever.the rest is history.

OneSun, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is OneSun a puerto rican hiphop recording artist born and raised throughout the 5 boros of NYC.I recorded my first pieces of music with my lifelong friend Jimmy Swag who introduced me to the world of recording and taught me my 1st steps into recording music on my own.since then I’ve graced stages with former group members and collaborated with numerous talented artists.in this current day I release music independently on streaming sites and exclusive albums and music through my own website onesun187.com.all music, videos, mastering and pre-production is done in house at The Padded Room N.Y.C. with Ninth Street Records handling the music and One Vision Films handling the music videos.
I still perform to this day and I am the most proud of the past 5 years of my solo career where I truly made strides in making a name for myself.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
There’s a couple of ways to build your presence but it all depends what you are willing to put out there.some artists go the xtra mile and become an artist/content creator etc.i think that’s fine for them but I built my presence on creating relationships with fellow artists through a network of sharing and commenting and meeting these artists and showing my support through their music and merchandise and it all reciprocates which leads to different levels of success for all of us.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Finishing a work of art and its ready for you to share it with the world and to see people actually spend money on something I created is the greatest reward.
