We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Katie Bonneau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Katie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
At Bon Communications our mission is to work with good people and brands who have stories to tell. As a small team of specialists, we truly become an extension of our client’s team. We listen first, and then take the time to craft a strategy that specifically meets our client’s needs and goals.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During the COVID pandemic, our clients were hit the hardest. We pivoted to offer pro bono services to restaurants and non profits with the goal of doing everything we could to keep businesses alive.
We were able to keep our full team paid during the duration of the pandemic and have bounced back (with our clients) better than ever.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We work hard and put our clients first. All of our clients come to us through referrals and word of mouth which is the backbone of our business. Along with client relationships, we foster relationships with journalists who trust us to provide compelling and timely stories.
PR and communications can often be misrepresented. We are honest and give clients a real assessment of goals that can be accomplished during our partnership. There is never a question of what we are doing and what is realistic to expect. We also provide strategic guidance to our clients beyond communications. We want to be part of the brand at a core level.
