Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rebekah Laur’en. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Rebekah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most significant projects I’ve undertaken is my latest endeavor, “Late Summer Nights”. In the wake of numerous global changes since 2020, I found myself on a journey of personal healing, rediscovering inner peace and joy. While I am an artist who truly does believe in using music to reflect contemporary issues, I also yearn for the kind that simply uplifts and brings joy. “Late Summer Nights” embodies this spirit—it’s all about creating music that makes you feel good and taps into a sense of positivity and enjoyment.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Singer, Songwriter, Producer, and Composer hailing from Virginia with a passion for R&B, though my repertoire spans pop, country, and beyond. Music has always been apart of me. I learned to play guitar when I was a child in church but my journey in music truly began at 14 when I received a music software program called ‘Cakewalk’ for Christmas. After exploring opera and honing my craft, I ventured into alternative R&B, crafting original music with a distinct sound.
My performances are known as emotional experiences, where I connect deeply with audiences through music. It’s incredibly fulfilling when people approach me after shows, expressing how my music made them dance, laugh, cry, reminisce, and feel a spectrum of emotions. For me, music serves as an emotional cleanse, helping listeners reconnect with forgotten feelings and giving them permission to embrace their true selves.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During my freshman year of college, I faced significant challenges. Most students had studied music professionally since childhood, unlike me, who had my first voice lesson at 16. I struggled with music theory and sight-reading, failing most classes and ending up on academic probation. Things worsened sophomore year when I overloaded on credits and got a dismissal letter during winter break. It shattered me; this college was my dream. Thankfully, I appealed, and the professors believed in me. I worked relentlessly, graduating on time with a strong GPA. This experience showed me my resilience, which still drives me in pursuing what I love today.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As an artist, one of the most fulfilling aspects is the opportunity to provide exactly what someone needs each day. Through my music, I strive to uplift with authentic stories and meaningful lyrics. It’s incredibly rewarding when listeners connect deeply with a song, realizing how much they needed its message at that precise moment. It’s a reminder that what I share from my own experiences can profoundly resonate and enrich the lives of others.
