Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cynthia Height. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cynthia, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I didn’t set out to be a personal branding coach or strategist, it just kind of happened, like all good things in my life. I had this overwhelming urge to help female entrepreneurs to come out of hiding, to increase their visibility, to get their message out there, and to be bold in the pursuits of their business. That’s the work I get to do everyday now in my business. It’s the work of creative ideas that need to be organized, words that need to be strung together so they hit the heart of the reader, and images that need to come to life with color and imagination. I had the idea for a program I wanted to create for these female entrepreneurs called You 2.0, all about helping them to step into their next level. I knew that in order to really get what you want out of your business, you have to be different, and stand out. So, I set out to find a group of women who wanted that next level, but were stuck in their minds about how to get there. Throughout the program, we went deep into the mission and vision of the work that they want to create in the world – whether a product or a service. I helped them see what the future of their clients and customers could look like when they are achieving the results they want. I empowered them to step out of their comfort zones and truly shine. And in that moment… several girl brands were born.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My business was born during the pandemic, actually, a couple of months before. You see, I was not trying to start a business, or a blog, or anything like that. But God had different plans. I was content to work in the background all my life. I didn’t think I had anything to say or share with the world. It wasn’t until a deep conversation with a friend that I realized that there was something I was being called to do, and share. That conversation birthed a blog – Dear Ms Anonymous. Except, I would, over the course of several months, share very intimate parts of my story, and I would no longer remain anonymous.
I’m Cynthia Height, author of the women’s empowerment blog, Dear Ms Anonymous and new business ebook, Brand Brilliance. My mission is to help female entrepreneurs step out of their comfort zone and truly be seen. I help them take an idea or concept and bring it to life. A lot of the women I work with are shy or afraid to put themselves out there for their business. My job is to help them understand that their words are powerful, and they have real value to share with the world.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My social media presence was built through conversations and relationships. When you find communities where you have strong connections in common, it is easier to build an audience of like-minded people. As I started showing up on social media more boldly, I learned that putting myself out there and sharing my business didn’t have to be something that I was afraid of. And when I decided to step away from network marketing and into creating my own digital products and courses, which is what I really wanted to do when I first thought of starting an online business, I realized that I just had to leap. And the people started finding me.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence I would say, be yourself. Your authenticity is what builds trust and connection to those who will be your audience – your followers, your customers, your clients, your next team members. But, be that next level you – even if you’re scared. Show up in the bold bright colors, even when grey is more comfortable. It’s easier as a newbie to watch and consume. You don’t grow a business that way. Your business grows by putting yourself out there, day after day! Need some tips on growing your social media presence? Follow me on Facebook, send me a DM and ask me how you can grab my ebook “Brand Brilliance” – it’s the perfect guide for beginner entrepreneurs who want to grow their social media presence authentically so they can share their products, stories, and transformation without feeling salesy. It’s awesome, if I do say so myself.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is watching an idea come to life. When someone comes to me and says, I would love to have an eye catching website that draws in my ideal customer. I say awesome! Let’s get to work! We sit down and chat colors and themes. We brainstorm ideas about how we want the message to come across, and I design a finished product that is so on brand for them. If someone comes to me with a burning desire to do something different, but not really knowing what to create, that’s when the big magic moments happen. Starting with a blank slate, and creating something that is unique to that person starts with just imagining the possibilities. I take them through exercises about what they enjoy, what they would love to see in the world if they could make it happen, and who they want to impact with this project or product. No two projects are ever the same – even if the concepts are identical. The essence of the person brings a different flavor. And I love being able to help them bring their essence and flavor to life in creating their own brand.
I love helping girl brands come to life.
