We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Imani Craig. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Imani below.
Imani, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Epic Cons was born because it connected the 9 person team.
Each of the “Epic Girls” met while attending a fandom convention. Conventions and events hold a special place in the teams’ hearts due to where it led them.
After binge watching Vampire Diaries during quarantine in 2020, the girls thought, “Why isn’t there an event in Mystic Falls?”
Thus, Epic Cons was born!

Imani, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Conventions are potentially a very oversaturated place, and for good reason. Television at large provides a space for people to escape to, especially in today’s climate.
Having the opportunity to meet the people who brought to life your favorite characters is surreal.
Epic takes great pride in helping make those magic moments happen, and they do so by looking for ways to set themselves apart from the other conventions also working to do the same thing.
Epic strives to immerse the fans into the world of Mystic Falls. Epic hosts pop up meet and greets in the Covington square, where much of the filming occurred on TVD.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Epic’s goal is to connect fans with their favorite celebrities, and in doing so, connecting them with their new bestfriends. As stated, the Epic team became so close due to meeting at a convention. Epic wants to provide that same experience for its attendees.
You never know who you might meet! Conventions are a wonderful bonding experience across the board.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Epic strives to make its events as personable and intimate as possible. There’s no hidden figure in an ivory tower responding to comments on social media, or even making business decisions. It’s a group of women who are all public facing.
Sometimes that can be a hinderance, being so accessible. In Epic’s experience, it’s only helped to personalize the brand, and add character to an otherwise systemic industry.
