We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anita Friedrich. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anita below.
Anita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The idea of being an artist/business owner came along the way. It started out as a hobby and this passion grew into this amazing career. Talent is definitly number one on the list to even think of executing this profession. But I do think not just the talent what matters the most when it comes to be a business owner and an artist. The consistency! Keeping up with other vendors and artist and being very persistent that was the other factor that really helped me starting out.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a photographer specializing in capturing the beauty of San Diego with lots of sunsets photos combined with surfers and classic cars. I can really mention only one particular image I am proud of as I love them all. They all have a special meaning for me, I remember clearly every single photo I took and the circumstances with locations.
One thing sets me apart from others is the way I think. I am European and the mix of cultures and experiences I have expanded my vision when it comes to photography and my learning curve. The amount of time I spent outside shooting and getting to know my camera is a huge part of it.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media was not my thing but I really wanted to showcase all photos at one platform. I started Instagram back in 2013, when it was still in the early ages. It quickly grew and few years later Instagram was pretty big and powerful. I was able to reach famous Magazines with my photos, such as ABC 10, Visit San Diego or Carlsbad Magazine. My strategy was to post almost every day and comment on all the other artist post. This really helped and I built a 10k audience.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I’m so proud who I become as an artist. The flexibility in schedule, the love from the people and other artist highlight my day. I love creating, and love exploring, always learning. These are the characteristics I can carry on with being an artist.
I truly love what I do, and when I hold my camera is everything for me!
