We were lucky to catch up with Melissa Enyedy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Melissa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I’ve definitely had a few defining moments but I think the greatest one was becoming a mentor for The Sound Healers Academy.
I finished my Sound Healing certification with TSHA in Jan 2022, and had decided that within the year I was going to leave my corporate job to work fully within my business, of which I was newly building. I wrote my resignation letter dated for December 2022, and by October of that year the company I was working for had eliminated my job. So the Universe basically took came of my intentions to leave a few months early!
In Jan 2023 an opportunity to apply to be a mentor with TSHA came up and I knew in my gut that this was the role for me! I love mentoring and coaching and being in the wellness industry. So I applied, interviewed, and successfully got the role.
It was this big leap forward into working with some of the most professional and talented in the Sound Healing space that ignited my confidence to be a leader & really go for my goals. I’ve now been a mentor for two rounds of training, learning a lot along the way, and stepping into my third round of mentoring this Fall 2024!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been learning & working in the Yoga and Wellness space for 19 years. I started in Vancouver B.C. teaching yoga all over the city in various studios. I did this for about 5 years before I moved to the Sunshine Coast B.C. – this is where I grew up and I wanted a slower pace of living so the Coast was a perfect location.
Unfortunately the yoga scene was not very well known so making a living teaching was tough and I eventually took a job with our local Credit Union and I taught yoga privately on the side. I did this for about 8 years.
It was during Covid that I experienced a real change in my mindset and what I wanted to be doing for a living. During the 2+ years of lock down I took my 300hr yoga teacher training, Reiki training, and Sound Healing certification. I’ve recently completed my Yoga Therapy training, Reiki Master training, and Level 2 Sound Healing Training with The Sound Healer’s Academy.
In Oct 2023, I left the Credit Union to work full-time in my business – Yoga & Honey Wellness. This was the best decision for my mental health and work/life balance. I was fully burned out from working through the pandemic.
In my business I now support people dealing with burnout, stress, and anxiety. I do this through nervous system regulation using the tools of Yoga Therapy, Sound Healing, and Reiki – what I’ve noticed is that there are so many people out there that have trouble relaxing and doing nothing and my session help people do just that! Eery session is unique and designed to support the individual or small group in the moment.
I’m most proud of my clients, honestly it takes a lot to trust the process of re-regulating your system, it’s not always easy and certainly not fast. But the clients who stick with it see real and long term changes, they are more present, make deeper connections and relationships, and enjoy a higher quality of life.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That ‘hustle culture’ doesn’t have to be the way to do things & you don’t have to follow a traditional path to be successful!
When I stepped away for corporate work, I really had to take some time for my nervous system to recalibrate. I was constantly in fight/flight/freeze mode. I had guilt, fear, and anxiety about doing ‘nothing’ but doing nothing was actually what I needed to be doing to get back my mental health and wellbeing. This involved a lot of yoga nidra, meditation, and sound healing and eventually my whole system started to feel better and I could work in-flow and be more present and creative in my business. But it definitely took some time to get there!

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
For me, one thing that is absolutely a must if you are going to work in the wellness space is to have your own personal practice. This may be yoga, meditation, walking in nature, or something else, but having a daily practice that connects you to you and you to your highest self (however you identify that).
I think as healers and wellness practitioners, we have to be able to show up clear and present to hold space for others and by having a dedicated personal practice we give ourselves the space to work through whatever is showing up for us personally so that we don’t bring that into our offerings. We can hold space with more integrity and authenticity.
