Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emily Rogers . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
In the fitness industry there is a huge focus on what you need to loose, what you want to loose to achieve a certain look or goal. We like to shift the focus on the things we can gain, in focusing on the positive gain mentally, emotionally, and spiritually we are confident that the physical goals will be achieved as an overflow. We gain confidence, we gain consistency, we gain strength, we gain longevity and quality of life. We are on a mission on change the narrative of global health and ignite confidence in each individual that walks through our doors.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I became a member of Burn Boot Camp nine years ago as a young mom of two small girls that just wanted to find herself again, shortly after joining I became pregnant with my third child, my son. I have been on a journey ever since to become the best version of myself and display it for my kids. I became a trainer, and now a owner. I believe in the mission to ignite global health and serve with open arms and open hearts. There are many people hurting in this world, it is my chief aim to provide a space where they feel seen, heard, and valued as they gain confidence to become the best version of themselves.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
My story started as an employee of the gym for 4 years before I began negotiating a purchase agreement. My paycheck as an employee were being directly deposited into a seperate checking account from my spouse, really for no reason other than to keep it seperate from the family account. Little did I know then what it would be used for. Fast forward to winter of 2023 when we had agreed on the purchase price, next came a business loan. I was able to use my personal nest egg of money that I made from the gym as a direct investment into the gym I was now purchasing as a down payment on my loan. Talk about sweat equity, I am incredibly proud of this.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
My very first payroll kept me up at night, literally I could not sleep anticipating that it would go through correctly, I had never used this payroll company before. I didn’t have much faith in myself either, but more importantly I had 20 employees depending on their paycheck. The morning of payday I texted one of my trusted employees to verify that funds had gone through only to learn they had not, I was devastated. I was grateful for my staffs grace, they did receive funds by 5pm that night, but it was a nail bitter all day.
