We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mehrnam Rastegari a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mehrnam, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I have had that feeling many times, and the only reason is I feel it doesn’t make sense financially to be an artist, not because I don’t enjoy my current work or I’m tired of it.
I always feel it’s gonna be more comfortable with affording everything and making my living, but also less interesting moments and people in my life and probably would be anti motivation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a disciplined person but I live in timelessness, I don’t get too stressed about things.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Music made me travel and immigrate and learn a lot

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was mostly composing for short films back home in Iran, here in the U.S I am performing more than everything else and even not only Persian music but also many other styles of music which I didn’t know anything about before.
