Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelyn Naveed. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kelyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
I think it is extremely important to outline and define what quality means for your business. It is also important to have key performance indicators, systems, processes, and metrics to help you measure quality. In the beginning, I think it is very tempting to want to do and offer everything to your clients. Start small with a few things that you can consistently do well and maintain. Gather feedback from your clients and see what their response is. Growing a business doesn’t have to mean sacrificing quality in my opinion. I think as a business, it’s still important to maintain that personal touch that your original clients fell in love with in the very beginning. We rely heavily on client feedback in an effort to ensure that we do not compromise our standards or reputation, as we continue to expand. Having a clear and consistent definition of quality will help you to align your strategy to scale your business, with your quality goals and values.

Kelyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Kelyn’s Creations initially started out as a small hobby, creating boards & grazing tables for holiday gatherings and game nights with friends and family. I have always been passionate about hosting and entertaining. The idea of owning a catering business initially came about during COVID-19 in December of 2021.
With the right tools and support, we launched in February of 2022. Within our first year, we quickly transitioned from a side hustle to a full-time career. I have an amazing support network, and I am a firm believer that none of this would have been possible without the love and support of my family. The goal behind Kelyn’s Creations is to spread happiness, through cheese of course, with delicious and beautiful food styling.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Setting goals and having a clear idea of the kind of content you want to share is a great place to start. You have to think about the direction you want your platform to grow. Analytics are a wealth of knowledge for getting to know who your target audience is. Your target audience will more than likely become your clientele. I also think you have to be authentic. People can spot a phony from a mile away. No one wants to feel like they’re being “sold” something. I try to share different facets of the business. If you follow me on social media, you’ll see me share bits & pieces, of event days and setups, prep days, wholesale order/breakdown, workshops, admin days, and even a small portion of my personal life from time to time. In the very beginning, I would just post the products and not much of anything else. It wasn’t until I started to really connect with my audience on more of a personal level, that my social presence started to grow.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Brand loyalty is huge. We really try to hone in on client feedback and being consistent. Maintaining great customer service is key. If and when we do have issues arise, we try to resolve them right away in an effort to meet the needs of the client. In my opinion, if a client has a positive experience, not only are they more likely to trust our brand, but to recommend us, and purchase again. In other words, positive experiences directly impact loyalty to our brand, and that loyalty then translates as sales won or lost for the business.
