We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tia Brisco. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tia below.
Hi Tia, thanks for joining us today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
COVID-19 significantly transformed my role as a mental health professional. Before the pandemic, therapy sessions and training were primarily conducted face-to-face. However, in response to COVID-19, organizations have broadened their scope to include virtual trainings and crisis management. This shift has allowed me to connect with more employees in environments where they feel secure.
I have observed a notable rise in training participation over the past 4.5 years. By enhancing accessibility and addressing the growing demand for mental health support, we are enhancing opportunities for healing.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve had the privilege of connecting with your readers before, and each time brings something new and exciting. My name is Tia Brisco, a licensed marriage and family therapist across multiple states, specializing in organizational mental health. My focus primarily involves guiding organizations and their employees through wellness training and crisis response services. Additionally, I serve as a trainer and consultant for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) projects. I help to ensure organizations prioritize the mental well-being of marginalized community members.
In about two months, I’ll complete my doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialization in organizational psychology. I cannot wait it has been one of the most difficult journeys of my life, but I am almost at the finish line!
One of my proudest accomplishments is the support I’ve provided to organizations, assisting employees, managers, and leadership through both triumphs and challenges. Being entrusted by these organizations to enhance their employees’ well-being has truly filled my heart with joy.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
“My journey to earn my doctorate has really tested my resilience. My dissertation focuses on how workplace discrimination affects the mental health of Black women. It’s been tough to research, both academically and personally. I’ve faced a lot of setbacks that almost made me want to give up. But thanks to the support of my family, friends, and advisor, I pushed through the exhaustion. I had to remind myself that finishing this dissertation is not just about me—it’s for all the Black women who’ve been silenced by their workplace experiences. I’m speaking up for them.”

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Being a trainer and therapist is more than just presenting slides or talking in front of a crowd. There’s a whole world behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed—the client meetings, brainstorming sessions, and those late-night emergency calls. My clients know they’ll always receive top-notch training that’s not only informative but also engaging and enjoyable. I make it a point to immerse myself in the organization’s culture, weaving it into every session I deliver. I always say, “My trainings feel like being in the living room with family,” so you can count on leaving my trainings feeling empowered and with a smile on your face. It’s this personal touch that keeps clients coming back.
