We recently connected with Apollo Maréchal and have shared our conversation below.
Apollo, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I am a person who tries to never have any regrets in life. Although, I will say that starting my career in music as late as I did would be my only regret so far. I feel like if I started this when I wrote my first real song (2016), I definitely would be bigger than I am currently. I believe everything in life happens for a reason so maybe this was the time for me to persue music. With apps such as TikTok and other platforms that can get your music heard worldwide, I guess I’m glad to have started when I did. I recorded my first song last year in 2023 and I have 6 songs out currently as well as 20 written songs and 10 unfinished so far so stay tuned!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well, I’ve had friends that I grew up with that were in the music industry that would constantly ask me to get involved and at the time I just thought it was a waste of time. I didn’t know that this would eventually become my passion and didn’t give it a chance until 2023. Regardless of whether I make it in the industry, I love making music! Although, I’m not going to lie, it would be nice to live off my passion. I mainly make Hip-Hop/R&B style of music but I’m branching out into other genres that can bring people from all backgrounds into listening to something they might not normally gravitate to. I’ve written lyrics for people and am now looking into directing music videos and starting a clothing line. The a thing that I’m most proud of is getting my second song ever made on the radio (104.7) The Drop!

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Not everyone that wants to peruse music has a big budget. I know I didn’t starting out. There are groups and organizations such as Wolf Wednesdays and Beats Bodega here in Denver that give new artist a chance to perform their music during their open mic events and connect artists with people in the industry. I think that’s really cool and has helped artists connect with people they would t normally meet! But other than than liking their post, commenting and reposting artists work. Things like that help out so much!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Ok so this is something that I’m struggling with but I’m working on. So mainly how I’ve built my following are asking random people if they listen to Hip-Hop/R&B music and having them follow me. I’ve gotten a lot of people from my school but also random people that I see throughout the day. I don’t really post that much on social media which is a problem and I tend to stay to myself unless I’m taking to people about my music. Between work and school and writing/recording music, it’s hard to find time to create content for social media as well and it doesn’t help that I’m camera shy. That’s something I plan on getting better at and will try to get ads running to gain that following soon!
