We recently connected with Courtney Reinhardt and have shared our conversation below.
Courtney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I absolutely love being a business owner. While it comes with a lot of challenges and hard work, I hope to always continue doing this.
I have owned my own business for three years, and prior to this have always worked a “regular job.” While I’ve always worked for great companies and managers, I don’t think I could ever go back! I truly value having full control over my schedule, policies, dress code, and the entire business.
I remember in 2020 after having my first child and putting her in daycare full time, daycare would close all the time due to COVID concerns. At one point it closed unexpectedly for a full two weeks! My husband and I could not get every day off between us and had no idea what to do with her. All I saw was long term working 9-5 all the sports games or events I would miss, knowing I wouldn’t be able to be off work for all of them. I knew I had to do something that was mine and not having to answer to anyone else for scheduling. I am so happy I made the jump!

Courtney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Courtney and I own Blondie Brows NC. I currently offer microblading, ombré powder brows, lip blush, saline brow removal, and a full brow training program for beginners. I also will be adding eyeliner to my services very soon.
My style of work is natural and timeless. Although it typically lasts 1-3 years, if longer I want it to age well in your skin. I don’t typically do anything bold or oversaturated. I never want you to feel like your brows are so bold you need a full face of makeup every single day.
My clients book with me because they are sick of filling in their brows everyday. It takes forever and they’re never even. It’s humid here in North Carolina and makeup melts off. For lip blush – as you age you lose color in your lips, so I add it back!
I recently launched my brow training program and am so excited to mentor others in this field. My background is in business and management, so I will ensure my trainees are setup for success.
While shopping for a permanent makeup artist, I want consumers to really do their research to find the best fit, whether that’s with me or elsewhere. You should LOVE their style of work, and agree to how they run their business and policies. Please read through all forms and follow the care of you are going to make this investment – it’s your face! Be picky. The healing process can be a rollercoaster so be patient and trust the process.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Honestly – I used personal credit cards! That may not be the best option for some but it was my only option to pay for training, supplies, and my first few months of salon suite rent.
Once I started taking clients I worked to pay myself fully back. It took a lot of clients and work to get to a point where I was paid back, but without going this route I could have never started.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social media – it has been a good mix of Facebook and Instagram, along with the referrals of my wonderful clients.
I stay very consistent on social media and adapt to changes on these platforms. My goal is to reach local clients in my target market, and I love to engage with local accounts as well as collaborate with other successful pages. I have seen success in utilizing professional branding shoots and showing my face.
