We recently connected with Heidi Little and have shared our conversation below.
Heidi , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I have worked on is the mission of love, care and respect for all children of earth. I grew up in a home day care center with 27 other people’s children in Saskatchewan Canada. My mother was born in a concentration camp in Germany, my father a full on Scott who spent a time guarding the Queen of England at her palace. It was this far out story that began my love and care of community. Fast forward many years, and I would be an educator and an international touring musician. Bring us to the year 2013, where I was inspired to create International Children’s Month. A yearly free thematic activity platform to uplift and support the children and youth of our beautiful planet. We began with the Earth Guardians, and other extraverted youth just learning to use their voices for the greater good. We would go on to collaborate with WE, The World and I became their children and youth theme coordinator. Establishing relationships with global youth activists like Raheen Fatima ( Pakistan) and Jamie Margolin (USA/This Is Zero Hour co founder). We have been through peace, water, earth, whole being, team work, self love, taking it to the streets, the miracle, and now in our 11th year Co Creating the New Story, The Story of Enough ( As in we have enough to feed everyone and enough is enough.). This is a story of voices and hearts coming together to inspire action, a united transformation of global consciousness. And now more than ever, we must protect and nurture the children and youth, our future generations, and their lovely earth.
This inspires me daily, especially now with the war and the children being caught in the crossfire of grown men and women, who are not being held accountable for their actions. As I write this passage to Canvas Rebel, I pray for the change to come to their hearts, and to our ways of governing as a global society. The waters, the air, the lands, the forests, the food systems, our education and health care all matter. As we move forward in June which is International Children’s Month, focusing on our annual Global Wave of Love on June 21st in partnership with World Peace and Prayer Day, may we cultivate and send forth our mission, love, care and respect for all children of earth. And may the war turn to caring and restoration, and peace prevail for our present and future generations, because the fact of the matter is, we do have enough for all. And we always have. There is a story about a people on a wall in Puma, where we first created the story that there was not enough. Thousands of years later and 8 billion strong and growing, we have proven, that we have plentiful systems, and enough care to go around the world many times.

Heidi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Heidi Little, M. Ed. Beauty, truth and light you see, are the main forces that are guiding me, through love we will heal all travesties and bring in a brand new reality, co created through love, peace, music and community.
My name is Heidi Monika Little. I began playing the organ competitively when I was 5 years old. I sang in the church choir like most, and that is where God showed me my path. I started off strong as a singer/songwriter born in Canada, opening for punk rock bands like Green Day, ALL, Red Fisher, Big Drill Car, of the early nineties. I became a teen mother first, and then a singer/songwriter a little later in life, recording and putting out my first full length album, which was recorded by CBC Radio Saskatchewan and aired as a full spoken word and musical performance titled “True Believer”. Thank you playwright and producer Kelley Jo Burke! The album was produced and put out later and is titled Live in A She Box. A tour quest featuring myself and my son Kian, to bring in the awakening would occur next and that album is titled Dreams of Grandeur, after two bouts of cancer and a new life gift We found ourselves in Austin, Texas recording at Willie Nelsons studio Perdanales, and releasing a song from Willie and his daughter Amy called A Peaceful Solution, this would turn into an album I held onto for years that I released in 2023 Called PeaceLoveSpiral A surprise phone call from Woodstock 1969 producer and mentor Artie Kornfeld over my song No More War, would come in during the album recording in 2007 called Power & Light, along with Musicians and Fine Artists for World Peace, global medicine wheel ceremony with Blue Thunder/Rainbow Thunder Heart, as my world would begin to open up to our indigenous relations, and global activism for humanity, our children and the earth. While living in Upstate New York during the 2012 happenings, I was on a mountain top, downloading new songs of love from the universe and channeling them out to our humanity. After this occurrence International Children’s Month would come in, and my advocacy would forever change.
It is important to note here that all along I was also a progressive educator and producer.: k-12 public, private, christian, Catholic, no school, free School, community school, workshops, WE, The World, A United Earth, ICM. We have put on shows, events, theater productions, I would design curriculum bridging music and memory, music and math, movement and memory and more, this fueled my love for education and whole child learning.
Since these extremely odd beginnings, I have come to terms with the fact that I am a creator who loves humanity and our earth, and I would stand up for the right thing in any unjustified situation. My music is a reflection of all that lives inside of me, all that is to be said, an old Highschool friend who worked for a major label once told me no one would listen if it was written down, another business associate early on said “Just keep writing great songs”, it really comes down to what you believe is true. So the mission (my mission) in its entirety is love, care and respect for all of us. And the modality is music and education, and the platforms I create, and produce. After 30 years I have been blessed with millions of fans and friends/family, many opportunities to showcase my and others work in beautiful initiatives and annual events for peace and unity, I have written 14 books on Heart Based Social Emotional Learning, and founded The Center for Advancement in Social Emotional Learning www.seladvancement.org I am working on a new tour called WE ARE ARISING, so we can see each other, because we are stronger together, and it is time to unite our gifts, missions and purpose, to extend the life of our planet to flourish for our children, and to feel like we are of value in our mission and purpose. I am a freedom fighter, and live in hope, faith, accountability, and strength, courage forged in the doing of brave acts, to stand up for what is right, and to write and sing about it. I have a fashion line One Clothing Unify, a podcast One Love Rising, and a love to sing with my people www.heidilittle.com One becomes two, two becomes many. and many becomes one. We are indeed the ones we have been waiting for, and I hope and pray my music will support you in any way possible. For we are arising. The newest single is Radical Love, I hope you like it. Please connect with me on Instagram heidilittlemusic on TikTok heidilittlemusic and on Facebook/YouTube Heidi Little, thankfully iTunes, Spotify are showcasing my music, and www.heidilittle1.bandcamp.com has everything I’ve ever made I wanted to share with you. So thanks for dream shaping with me, and rising above to create a life that is so worth it!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
For everyone out there on a path to live them. Trust your instincts and give yourself time to pause, reflect, design, realign, pray, take action, and have faith. If it is in you then it is yours to do, and you can accomplish it. It may not always look like what you think it will look like, and that is o.k. Cause trust me, God is setting you up for something even better. Take risks but do not put your family at risk. Be responsible for everything you have, you are living and you experience, it all came from you somewhere, and try to prioritize time each day to what you love to do. The world will figure out how to work with you.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
There is a tour we are working on called We Are Arising, it is a call to action to see each other. To bring our gifts, missions, purpose and skills to the proverbial table so we can figure out how to co create as much peace, love, harmony, and good community as possible. Come to the Arising, support the art you love, the musicians you love, the fashion you love, support good causes that end slavery on all levels. If not you who? If not now when? Please share my music with your loved ones, and my Train the Trainer with potential professionals who care about society, our systems, our people, and the greater good.
