Chantel, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The mission behind Chantel’s Foodventures is to teach and show people the benefits of following a plant-based lifestyle. I am a strong advocate for health and wellness, and eating healthy is a huge part of that. I wanted to structure my business in a way that is inviting and easy for people to understand, so that they can be excited about trying new plant-based foods that don’t compromise flavor and excitement. This mission is very meaningful to me because transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle allowed me to lose 44lbs and keep it off. I feel happier, healthier and comfortable in my skin and I would want everyone to feel this way in their life.


Chantel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Chantel Quailey and I am a classically trained Chef with a degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University. I have been in the food industry for over a decade. My passion for food started from a very young age and I decided to turn that passion into a career. Chantel’s Foodventures is a culmination of newsletters, cooking tutorial videos, recipes, helpful guidebooks and more to encourage individuals who have a desire to learn about starting a plant-based lifestyle. I only provide information that I follow within my personal life. I started a plant-based lifestyle because I wanted to be healthier, and I am so happy that I took those steps to get to where I am today. I’ve designed Chantel’s Fooodventures in a way that makes it fun, easy, and enjoyable to eat healthy.


Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Prior to being an online presence and content creator, I owned a catering company for 5 years. Over the course of those years, I thoroughly enjoyed cooking up amazing dishes and working with my clientele, but I was very much burnt out and wanted to reach more people in an impactful way. I took some time off and prayed for direction and God gave me the tools necessary to build Chantel’s Foodventures. While still being able to work with food, I can now reach people all over the world who can follow and cook the recipes I’ve developed, in the comfort of their homes. This pivot allows me to have a healthier work life balance. This is the most peace I’ve felt in a very long time, and I am forever grateful for it.


How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media wasn’t easy, but it was rewarding. I joined an online community of likeminded individuals called Impact Creator Society by Anthony O’neal and within this community I learned the basics of social media and applied what I learned in real time. Consistency is a major key to building up your social media presence. There are people in this world who want to see and hear from you, so be consistent and patient and your audience with come.
