Maria, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.

I started grooming dogs when I had my dog Bert. We groomed him to prep him for a dog show he was participating in. We bathed him and made sure he was kept clean. Bert was such a good dog- he isn’t around anymore but he is what inspired me to start my dog grooming business.

My first client was a Komondor, or a mop-head dog. It took forever to groom him because I couldn’t seem to find his face in all that fur. It felt different to work with a dog that wasn’t my own, but it was so rewarding!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I offer quality service for each dog that I take care of. Often, I will take them on a walk before I groom them to make sure they are calm and comfortable with me before we start.

I am really proud of my dog grooming business. I am starting to branch out my business to include tote bags and Christmas ornaments for dog owners.

I started my business with my step-
mom. She did a lot of work with dogs and I learned from watching her. This work is very important to me and my family and I take a lot of pride in what I do.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.

After I finish working with each dog, I will send follow-up emails to make sure that I stay connected with all my clients. I also participate in farmers markets and events around the community to spread the word about my business.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

At first I was nervous to take on clients by myself. My step-mom helped me set up things for a while, but after she passed away I worked hard to keep going with my business.
