We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jimmy Adrian Velarde a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jimmy Adrian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
After years of working alongside remarkable talent in Hollywood, I was inspired to formed Creative Teamwork Entertainment a Multi-Cultural Entertainment company dedicated to creating powerful storytelling that touch hearts and inspire at-risk youth from making poor choices. Our Film Festival Award Winning Documentary PRIVATE INSANITIES and Music Video LIVIN BEYOND THE PAIN are the most current projects that featured Chicano Artist Felix Perez.
As a first-hand witness of the continuous and disastrous evolution of drugs and gangs among our youth, it’s crucial to recognize the seriousness and the severe consequences. His collection of paintings examines the ills of society that gave him the voice to create meaningful images in hope of changing our next generation from going down the path of destruction of Drug abuse, gang violence, spousal abuse, child abuse, suicide, and abortion. PRIVATE INSANITIES DOCUMENTARY serves as a scared straight on canvas. The Music Video LIVIN BEYOND THE PAIN is a powerful visual narrative that provokes thought and emotion about the daily struggles of a single mother whose only son is incarcerated.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My creditability to speak about filmmaking comes from over forty-years of experience in the entertainment industry, having earned 12 Emmy Awards, a Grammy nomination for my production work at CBS Television Network. Relationships, trust, collaboration, and loyalty are all equally important that can last a life time. Realizing my mission in life is to give back to what I have been privileged in receiving. I attribute my success to my elders, mentors, and partners Victor M. Field (Newspaper Executive), Vito J. Giambalvo (Director/Producer/Cinematographer), Michael O’Neill (Musician, Producer, Composer) and Eugene Escarrega (Producer, Director, Writer-Warner Bros.) for entrusting me with the ultimate gift having purpose. These experiences contributed to my multi-facet career.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect in my journey is embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity to uplift the underserved not being represented.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Producing positive content for Native American, Latino, Black, Asian, Pacific Islanders and LGBTQ+, and other markets that have little to no presence under existing current programing focus.
