We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Noa Lindberg. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Noa below.
Noa, appreciate you joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
When you’re good at what you do, you seek to always learn more. When acting on set, it was never enough for me. Studying screenwriting certainly made me a better actor. I understood that harmony between every single position on set made a better product. I observed a lot, analyzed, asked questions, learned more about every aspect of film making. I consequently became a producer as well as a director. Wearing several hats on set helps you become better at any position(s) you work. Too often, people get too wrapped up about “lanes”. This is Art. And the piece become so much more meaningful without limits. And it’s the same about my music project: Shadowbanned Unicorn. Whether the musician has a voice for a specific need on the song or the singer has an idea for the production, fabulous! Let’s explore all avenues. As Artists, we should never lose sight of what’s important: The piece of Art a team comes together to create. There are no limits.
Noa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Throughout my career, I have been seeking to creatively shape the world of Art and propel it into a future of endless possibilities. My goal is to make people think through Art: not what to think, but simply to think, for themselves. I want people to forge their thoughts through life, experience, knowledge. I want thoughts to be as infinite as Art itself. Whether it’s through my paintings, films, songs, or children’s book, Sneaky Sneakerton – The Sock That Got Away.
As a Director/Producer, I am solely focused on my client’s vision and needs. You ask, you get, and more! Whenever I have carte blanche on the creative, I will choose to inspire, surprise and blow minds through storytelling. Whether it’s a 3-minute music video or a 30-second commercial, we’re making a movie, baby!
As a Producer with an MBA, I am thorough and strategic on the logistic and financial side. A buttoned-up pre-production will lead to a buttery shoot. If you’re ready for every scenario and work on potential issue before they may occur, nothing can stop you. Besides a category 5 hurricane… Maybe!
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Not using AI as a substitute and supporting fair compensation for Artists would be a good start. A piece of Art, whether it’s a film, a song, a book, a painting, can take months or even years to create. Valuing the hard work behind Art is crucial, especially when its consumption has therapeutical or educational powers.
I am certain every person has had a powerful song driving them through a break-up, a mesmerizing movie or TV show distracting them from life’s hardships, a mind-blowing documentary teaching them about History, a meaningful book moving or motivating them. There is no reason why Art should take a back seat in the financial pyramid.
When people think about actors, singers, or producers, they often see big names. But the truth is, very few artists can actually make a living. Society should acknowledge that Artistry is a full-time occupation, much like any Industry, and should be compensated as such.
Art makes you feel, because the creators put their entire soul into it. Art creates human connection.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Witnessing people discuss about your piece of art, whether it’s a film, song, painting or book, how they interpret it, debate or exchange thoughts about its meaning, the emotion it evoked, the inspiration it sparked, or the power it provided them to heal through life’s unfortunate moments, is the most rewarding feeling an Artist may experience. This is how we, creatives, thrive.
I am immensely grateful to all the people who take the time to appreciate the years of learning, sweat, thought process, emotions and heart we, Artists, put into our work.
Art is not only a means for expression but a brain’s Pilates exercise, for both the creator and its audience. If the brain is in shape, the body will follow. It may sound utopic, but true Art, in its vastness, may have the power to heal the world.
