Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle Pooch . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michelle , appreciate you joining us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
Innovation isn’t a privilege reserved for tech giants; it’s a necessity for survival in any business. My experience with innovation stemmed from a personal struggle – finding effective, non-toxic solutions for hyperpigmentation and malasma. After exhausting various products and costly treatments, I took matters into my own hands.
Years of trial and error led to the creation of the Blass Beauty Stick, a targeted spot treatment designed to address specific skincare concerns. This wasn’t just about formulating a product; it was about revolutionizing an industry plagued by ineffective solutions and harmful ingredients.
The process wasn’t always glamorous. It involved meticulous research, rigorous testing, and relentless determination. There were moments of doubt and setbacks, but every obstacle fueled my drive to innovate further.
The result? A groundbreaking product that not only meets stringent efficacy standards but also prioritizes consumer safety and wellness. It’s a testament to the power of innovation in solving real-world problems and improving lives.
For entrepreneurs navigating the complexities of innovation, my advice is simple: be bold, be persistent, and never settle for mediocrity. True innovation isn’t about flashy gimmicks; it’s about delivering tangible value and pushing boundaries in meaningful ways.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining moments of my life that shows my resilience happened during my divorce. It was an incredibly tough time filled with a lot of uncertainty and emotional pain. But it also led to a moment that changed my life. Divorce changes you in many ways, we don’t talk enough about how it can make you better. Divorce is disruptive, but disruption is often the very thing that brings us closer to the life that is destined for us.
I remember hosting a big event when the DJ didn’t show up. Instead of letting the event fall apart, I decided to step in and take over the music. I had never DJed before, but I jumped in and made it work. That night, I discovered a new passion and started my career as a DJ. It was a bold move that required a lot of courage, but it taught me that resilience isn’t just about surviving tough times; it’s about taking action and finding new opportunities even when things look bleak.
During this challenging time, I developed a personal tool that I call my 30-second rule. Whenever something stressful happens, I give myself 30 seconds to freak out. In those 30 seconds, I let myself feel all the emotions—fear, frustration, whatever comes up. But after those 30 seconds, I force myself to focus back on what needs to be done. It’s not about ignoring my feelings, but about not letting them take over.
The 30-second rule helps me control my emotions and use my energy wisely. I decide what to focus on and put my energy into solving problems rather than getting stuck in them. This approach has been crucial for me in staying resilient, allowing me to overcome obstacles and keep moving forward.
My journey through divorce and finding a new career as a DJ shows how powerful resilience can be. By facing challenges head-on and using tools like the 30-second rule, I’ve learned to turn setbacks into opportunities for growth and success. Thats why in my new book “Rockstar Resilience,” I want to inspire readers to live boldly, embrace their unique journeys, and always rise above the challenges they face.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Hosting numerous high-level events and nurturing relationships have been key to building my reputation within the market. By consistently organizing successful and memorable events, I demonstrated my ability to deliver excellence and create unforgettable experiences. These events allowed me to connect with influential people and build a network of strong, meaningful relationships.
Another important factor was my focus on connecting others. I always made an effort to bring people together, helping them establish connections that benefited everyone involved. Additionally, having integrity, adding value to others, and being someone people could depend on to get the job done were crucial elements of my reputation.
Overall, it was a combination of hosting top-tier events, nurturing relationships, maintaining integrity, adding value, and being reliable that helped me build my reputation and achieve success in my market.
