We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hana Landesman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hana below.
Hi Hana, thanks for joining us today. One deeply underappreciated facet of being an entrepreneur or creative is the kind of crazy stuff that happens from time to time. It could be anything from a disgruntled client attacking an employee or waking up to find out a celebrity gave you a shoutout on TikTok – the sudden, unexpected hits (both positive and negative) make the profession both exhilarating and exhausting. Can you share one of your craziest stories?
We are Shmuli and Hana, a married couple with two boys, and we run SNAP Animation studio together. We relocated from Israel in 2022.
In early 2021, in the middle of Covid, we decided to join forces and start working together, each bringing our own strengths. We got rid of all our belongings, packed two suitcases, took our boys aged 3 and 5, and left Israel. We traveled throughout Europe for a year and a half, working online with our laptops with Israeli clients and homeschooling our kids!
At the end of 2022, we arrived in the USA with the main goal of continuing to travel. We fell in love with Atlanta, GA, and decided to stop traveling, establish our studio there, and start working with American companies. We didn’t plan any relocation. We arrived with two suitcases, and after a month, we rent an office and started working there.
Hana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Shmuli and Hana, a married couple, we run together SNAP Animation studio.
Shmuli has been drawing since he was a young child. Despite his teachers telling him to stop doodling in class, he pursued his passion and studied animation at a college in Israel. He immediately got involved in the industry, working on feature animation films, advertising agencies, and freelance projects.
Hana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design and managed a design studio.
In early 2021, we decided to join forces and start Snap Animation Studio, each bringing our own strengths to the table.
Hana, the owner and CEO, focuses on business development, marketing, and sales, while Shmuli leads the art department as the Art Director, designer, and lead animator.

Any advice for managing a team?
In my view, the best way to support my team and our subcontractors and maintain high morale is to see them as individuals, respect and value them.
I believe in selecting people who are different from me, rather than those who are similar and boost my ego. These individuals will bring value to my team, challenging and elevating it. It’s important to always listen and allow them to express themselves. Instead of trying to be overly friendly and seeking their approval, I believe in maintaining a professional and direct approach. I always approach with an open mind and am willing to learn from them. I understand the boundaries and recognize that they are not my ‘family’; we are all here to achieve success and progress as much as possible. This is the environment I strive to create in our studio. In a way, I treat employees like customers – with care and respect, and it comes back to benefit me.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I believe that people who aren’t involved in creative work often don’t realize the effort that goes into creating the final product. They may not understand the extensive process and hard work that goes into even seemingly simple products. For example, even an informational video requires a significant amount of creative effort and precise execution from a skilled and professional team. I find that the more I explain our work process to clients in a simple way, the more they are able to understand, appreciate, and collaborate with us.
