Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kaley Wagner . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kaley , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear stories from your time in school/training/etc.
My journey to be a nurse would not have been the same without my invaluable education at West Coast University in Texas. Through professors who have excelled in their field, to peers who challenged me and supported me every step of the way, to lessons that invigorated my passion for nursing, my education deepened my understanding of caring for patients in this fulfilling field. I was able to get hands on experience caring for patients before stepping out into my own personal journey of being a nurse which allowed me to make mistakes, learn from them, and understand the complexity of patient care. At West Coast University, I thrived as a student, and I am forever thankful for the incredible impact it has made on my nursing journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Kaley Wagner and I’m a Registered Nurse. My passion for nursing began early in life with seeing people around me suffer and having the innate need to fix it. As a young student, I pursued health occupation classes that fueled my desire to pursue the medical field. After high school, nursing was the natural major for me to pursue. Every day I am able to make a small difference in my patients lives, which is a huge responsibility yet a huge blessing that I am thankful for as a nurse. As a nurse, I am dedicated to improving patient care, using evidence based practices, and breaking down barriers associated with health care.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I had to go back, I would undoubtably chose nursing. As an individual, nursing is my calling and purpose in my life. It’s something I am constantly growing with and learning from. No other career would truly fulfill my deep need to care for others before myself and serve as a guide to healing.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I think care is most important in my field. You have to care about people and their lives. You have to dive into a strangers life for 12 hours each shift and care about them above your own needs. You have to advocate for them, be there to listen to them, and play a part in their healing.
