We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Auner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
I like to think of my business as a safe space for all, particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community. The wedding industry tends to be a bit black and white when it comes to weddings. For example, most things are labeled for a bride and groom, such as a bridal and groom suite to get ready in, down to “bridal” parties, leaving a majority of LGBTQIA+ couples feeling like they somehow don’t fit the “norm” and thats the last thing I want my clients to feel when working with me. The biggest compliment I have received while in talks with a potential client, is that they feel safe working with me because I offer such a safe and welcoming environment for ALL.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jennifer Auner(She/Her) 34, and I’m a wedding and elopement photographer celebrating and documenting ALL love based in the Southern California area. My love of photography started in high school where I took film photography and eventually digital photography. Over the past 7 years I have fallen deeply in love with wedding and elopement photography, which has now become my main focus. My mission is to be a safe space for all who are looking to document their unique love story. With a passion for storytelling, my filmy edits showcase warmth, love, and a touch of nostalgia in every photo.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
With social media becoming harder to keep up with, I’ve found most recently that the best source of new potential clients has been referrals from previous clients and other wedding vendors thats I’ve worked with such as wedding planners and venue owners. Creating a welcoming experience for clients and other professionals I get to work with is very important to me.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to simply create a safe and welcoming environment for all couples who are looking to document their wedding or elopement. With an emphasis on the LGBTQIA+ community.
