Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dewilda Worthy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dewilda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
I was nervous about asking friends and family to support me when I first started my business because I thought that they would ridicule me but it was quite the opposite. I draw the line at lowering my prices to get them to support because the price base is very affordable. One of the things I still find funny is that people feel the need to apologize to me when they cant come on my Lives or to an event where Im vending.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Im an Independent Paparazzi Consultant selling $5 bling. The name of my buisiness is JeweledbyDW . I started off buying the jewelry because I absolutely loved it. The jewelry is only $5 but will stand up to anything that you buy in a boutique. When COVID hit my husband hurt himself and then was laid off so I decided to become a consultant to make up for the loss of my husband’s income. That was June of 2020 and Im still enjoying what I do. My customers I think love me because Im honest and if issues arise I work hard to make it right. I will even go out of my way to find pieces for my loyal customers. I also enjoy sharing the opportunity with others who may be looking to subsidize their income. I always tell anyone who signs up that I wont promise you that you will get rich but if you work your business you will make money.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped build my reputation is my honesty and willingness to work with my customers. For example, I will do a layaway for my established customers. So if I go Live and they want to shop but dont have the money to pay right then I will hold on to the items till the agreed upon date.

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell on my own website http://shop.paparazzipremiere.com/jeweledbydw. I love it because it allows my customers who dont have time to sit through a Live to shop. The only drawback to the website is that I dont get to interact with the customers like I do when on my Lives.
