We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Galperin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Alright, Sarah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
This is a sensitive subject for most Real Estate agents. On one hand, you want to help and support your friends and family and vise versa, but their business is not owed to you, it should be earned based on being the right person for the job. Before I became a Real Estate agent myself, I would meet new people in Real Estate on a friendly level and I remember feeling like there was a hidden agenda. That they were following some marketing 101 guide on how to get clients and win their trust, and I remember feeling completely turned off and worse, in some cases, falling for it and when I realized what they were doing, I never trusted them again. I approach every relationship, be it professional or personal, with sincerity and integrity, I do not want to pretend to be anyone’s friend. And if my friends or family choose to work with someone else, then that is something I will be 100% ok with, and the onus is on me to prove that I am the right agent for them by my work and track record, not because we are friends or family.

Sarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a mom of 4, I have worked in Business Development for the last 20 years and in 2020 my family and I moved from Los Angeles to South Florida. Not thinking I would be able to keep my job remotely, I got my Real Estate license, If I had known how many Real Estate agents there are in Florida, I probably would not have gotten my license but I am glad I did. I originally thought I would do this part-time or as a referral partner, but I have truly found my calling. I have moved 35 families in the last 3 years and have done over 45 million in sales, while still maintaining my job in LA. I joined Compass, because it is a brand I associate with and aligned with; especially with their tech-forward initiatives. Ultimately my success comes from the fact that you have to love what you do, and you cannot half-ass any business. People can sense when you are not putting 100 percent of yourself into it
The one thing all of my clients will tell you about me, is that I truly go above and beyond for them. When I take on a client, they are my main focus.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
1st, I always make friends with my colleagues. It is so important to network and have a good working relationship with other agents, you want them to want to work with you and let you know when a great home will come up or off market, or pick your offer, because they want to work with you
2nd. I try and be authentic on social media, show potential clients who I am ( not just professionally, but personally ) people will hire others who they can relate to and like. I also try to add value and useful tips so that they feel they get something helpful from me.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As I mentioned, we moved in December of 2020, I did not think I would be able to keep my job and had to pivot, as someone who has had a pretty flexible work schedule for over a decade, I knew I could not go back to a 9 to 5 – I was scared to start this new career because I know it takes time to succeed in anything you do, and you have to “eat crap” for lack of better words for years before you hit your stride. But somehow, all of my years in sales and account management and development prepared me for this job. One that has me working more than any 9-5 job and it has taken off for me, but I honestly feel that way because it is the right fit for me
