We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Bosworth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Stephanie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I try to engage with my followers and customers a lot via Facebook and instagram. I love playing online games with them, we play guess where the photographer is traveling today, when I am going out of state. Right now I am having them go on a scavenger hunt to other local business to find my product I had hidden and they get that product and other gift cards from local shops, they can also win a discount session, t-shirts I make myself, mugs, magnets, we have a lot of prizes in store for our followers. I love seeing people win and putting a smile on their face. My clients know their bookings fill my heart, I make sure they know I am with them every step of the way from the booking, to the shoot and after the shoot when they are buying the right product.

Stephanie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My love for photography started at 10 years old. My mom bought my first digital point and shoot camera for my birthday. I photographed everything, nature, sunsets, woods, lakes, my friends hanging out, my family, our barbecues, I would torture my sister and have her model for me all the time. I then worked with another photographer to shoot my first wedding. I had a lot of fun and decided I wanted to keep photographing weddings. My love for photography has grown so much to owning my own business, Emerald Photography. It took me a long time to find my niche and the perfect name for myself and my brand I wanted to showcase. I photograph weddings, senior portraits and families. I dabble a little in Boudoir but they’re not my biggest seller. I make all of my own products, I make my own keychains, I make my own business cards and cut them out by hand. I make my own keychains and also cut those out myself, I created t-shirts this year also made myself at home. I am very dedicated to my business and everyone compliments on how I don’t outsource anything, everything is handcrafted by me and they love that I do that so they book with me because they know I will perfect their images. I am most proud of how much I have been published in the last year. I have been featured on celebrity instagrams, they shared my images of them to their stories and feeds. My photo was published in People Magazine in October, 2023, I have been published 10 times since then in multiple magazines. My photos made the cover page of my local hometown magazine, 2 months in a row. The main thing I want people to know is, it doesn’t matter to me if you’re a $100 client or a $2,000 client, I am always going to treat you like a $10,000 client and edit your photos to perfection, because you only get that moment and memory one time! I am always growing and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for my future. I am thankful for everything that I have.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Going out and meeting people face to face. Going to Marketing events with other small business owners and strategizing from each other. Surround yourself with like minded people they will get you farther in your career than your small circle you have now.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Living in a small town with a thousand other people who are doing the same thing as you, it is really hard to branch out and do your own thing without someone copying your ideas. I have had to learn to push past those copy cats and just keep going and don’t worry about what they are doing. They may not last in the game as long as me. I also learned to stop posting every idea I have on social media and just do it, if you post the idea and they can do it first, it’s going to look like you copied them. Don’t speak your ideas into existence until you’re ready to jump and fulfill those ideas.
