Hi GIL , thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.

It all began in the ninth grade when a girl at school offered to teach me guitar. I began writing songs shortly afterwards.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

For my 749th review, I am listening to a collection of songs by Gil Kaneda, a singer-songwriter-keyboardist-guitarist, and model from Atlanta, Georgia. Gil has a great voice and is a great guitar player. The disc he sent me has such great tracks as No Ending, There Is No Other, Night Palace, Melting Ice, Land of Dreams and much more. How did you build your audience on social media?

Back in the myspace era (which I consider superior to the facebook/instagram/tiktok era), I had written a song about a goth chick called “Alabaster Queen” which I featured on my myspace page myspace.com/retail which continues to exist in highly diminished form.

I happened upon the myspace page of some goth photographer. Many of his “friends” were suicide girls type goth models. So I sent them all an invite. The next day, I log onto myspace and all of them had accepted my friend request. I went from a handful of myspace “friends” to over a hundred overnight. I don’t remember the exact number of myspace “friends” I eventually accumulated but it must have been in the tens of thousands.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

THE LAWS OF SUCCESS by Napoleon Hill. I don’t know if there is any connection, but I became a much better singer, songwriter, and musician after reading the book.
