Hope, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
My life and purpose was changed when I experienced the murder of my son in 2016. I now live in his honor in serving others in their grief and providing support, compassion, and hope. I simply call it devastation to determination.
Hope, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I founded and created Grief 2 Hope, a virtual grief support program that is offered at no cost to anyone who is grieving at any point. We are a nonprofit organization that offers hope, compassion, encouragement in a safe space while allowing those who grieve to bring their authentic selves without judgement. Our mission is that no one grieves alone and can come and be treated with respect and dignity by those who understand.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Grief 2 Hope began in the midst of the pandemic. I knew grieving during the pandemic added an additional layer for those in isolation, closure, and loneliness. I knew I had to create something to bring those grieving together in order to serve and provide comfort. Being able to create a virtual space was truly the only way at that time, which was a challenge to market and network the program. I was dependent on social media to spread the word. However being able to reach globally has made a difference in the diversity of participants.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Compassion for others is our number one attribute for Grief 2 Hope. Our success is how we serve others.
