We recently connected with Word Life and have shared our conversation below.
Word , appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
Yes, I’ve been fortunate enough to earn a full-time living from my creative work, but it definitely didn’t happen overnight. It was a journey filled with persistence, passion, and a deep love for representing my Puerto Rican culture.
From the beginning, I knew that consistency and authenticity were key. I started by sharing my music and stories that highlighted my Puerto Rican heritage on social media, connecting with my audience on a real level. At first, it was slow-going. I had to juggle multiple hustles to support my passion. But I kept pushing, constantly creating and sharing content that celebrated our culture.
A significant turning point was when one of my videos went viral. It was a mix of my music and a personal story that resonated deeply with people, especially within the Puerto Rican community. That moment brought a lot of new followers and opportunities. Collaborations with other influencers and brands followed, which helped me grow even more.
Another major step was understanding the importance of quality over quantity. Investing in good equipment and improving my skills in content creation made a big difference. Engaging with my audience genuinely and consistently helped build a loyal community that appreciates our shared heritage.
Looking back, I think I could have sped up the process by networking more aggressively from the start and learning about digital marketing earlier. Understanding algorithms and the business side of social media are crucial aspects that I wish I had focused on sooner.
Overall, it’s about staying true to yourself and your roots, continuously learning, and not being afraid to take risks. Every setback was a lesson, and every milestone was a testament to the hard work and dedication. Representing Puerto Rican culture in my work has been incredibly fulfilling, and I’m grateful for the journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a music artist and influencer with a passion for representing Puerto Rican culture. My journey began with sharing my music and personal stories on social media, focusing on themes that resonate with my heritage. I create original music, cultural content, and engaging posts that celebrate our identity.
Initially, I was a regional artist, but my content’s authenticity and cultural focus helped me gain international recognition. A viral video that blended my music with a personal story was a turning point, bringing global followers and opportunities.
What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and celebrating Puerto Rican culture. I aim to inspire, entertain, and educate, fostering a sense of connection and pride among my audience.
I’m proud of the community I’ve built and the positive impact of my work. My brand is dedicated to honoring our heritage and continuously finding new ways to engage and inspire. Thank you for joining me on this journey to share the beauty of Puerto Rican culture with the world.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was believing that success would come quickly if my content was good enough. Early on, I thought high-quality music and authentic content would bring immediate recognition, but growth was slow despite my efforts.
Unlearning the myth of overnight success taught me perseverance and the value of continuous learning, which transformed my journey from a regional artist to an internationally recognized influencer.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and influencer is hearing from people who tell me how my content has helped them understand and connect with their Puerto Rican culture better. Many followers reach out to share how my music and stories have inspired them to explore their heritage and take pride in their identity. Knowing that my work resonates deeply and positively impacts others’ lives is incredibly fulfilling and motivates me to keep creating and sharing.
