Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shane Hansen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shane, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was about 6, I received my first drum set. I play it whenever I could and a few years after that, I went to my first concert, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, and Saosin and that’s when I knew I wanted to do this with my life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hey I’m Shane and I play drums in Keep Close. We’re a band based out of Salt Lake City, UT. I started playing music around 6-7 years old, starting with guitar and drums and shortly after realized drums were my instrument of choice. After highschool, I went to school for audio production and started meeting people in the music scene in Las Vegas. From there, went on to join my past band who I played with for about 7 years. A few years ago I met some of the dudes in Keep Close through other mutual friends. I’m excited for this project. I feel that’s it’s a fresh take on what’s popular in our genre and we’ve already accomplished a lot for being a new band. For those of you who don’t know, we recently released our debut single “Tooth & Nail”. We’ll have more announcements coming soon!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
When people can relate to the work that you’re putting out. Whether that’s relating to whatever we’re talking about in a song, coming out to a show and having a good time, or just supporting you in any way.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our mission/goal is just to write the best music we can and hope it resonates with someone somewhere and eventually turn this into our full time job.
