We were lucky to catch up with Kristi Morron recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kristi, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I am a registered radiologic and CT technologist. I had been in that field for about 12 years when I had a health scare that led me away feom the field. After leaving the hospital life, I moved to a career as a secretary in an accounting office. After a couple years, I knew that I wanted more. I wanted something that felt more rewarding , doing something I loved. I had always dreamed of owning my own business but had never had the guts to do it. With much encouragement from my husband, I opened Attic Salt Boutique (a clothing boutique for women size small-3XL) in May of 2017. Opening this boutique was something I had always wanted but knew nothing about. I had taken zero business classes, really didn’t know anyone I could ask any questions or get advice from and was told by some that it would never make it. Despite all odds, I opened the clothing boutique in 2017 and it did so well that in November of 2018 we expanded our shop and added home decor and gift items. This risk taught me that with enough determination and grit, anything can be done.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Kristi Morron. I am a wife, mother and the owner/operator of Attic Salt Boutique located in Vincennes, IN. My decision to leave healthcare ultimately led me to open my clothing boutique in 2017.
Attic Salt Boutique offers women’s clothing size small-3XL. We are a unique store offering a curated collection of clothing and accessories, home decor and gift items.
We pride ourselves in helping ladies find a style unique to them that makes them feel like their best self. When you feel good, you look good. We always strive to provide exceptional customer service whether it is in store shopping or online shopping.
I genuinely enjoy people and helping people. Nothing feels better than finding your community of people and helping those people live their best life.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In April of 2022, I tried to open a children’s boutique. It was called Oak & Acorn Infant & Toddler Shoppe. It was a beautiful store filled with children’s clothing and gifts. The store was super successful for a couple of months before it fell flat.
When things started to go poorly, I was devastated. I worked for the next year trying everything to make it successful. I started doing markets, tried a TikTok account, started networking harder than I ever had. I was doing everything in my power before realizing that maybe this happened for a reason. I didn’t enjoy the baby shop. My passion was Attic Salt Boutique.
Upon realizing this, I closed it down and put all my time, effort and energy into growing Attic Salt.
Everything I went through with the baby shop, taught me resilience. I realized what was important to me and realizing how much I enjoyed Attic Salt and my customers made me push harder to grow what was already successful.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We have a loyalty program that is available for the customers to use in store or online. For every $100 our customers spend (pre-tax) they earn $10 to use on any future purchase of $10 or more (pre-tax). These earnings or money spent never expire, which is a huge advantage for our customers.
The loyalty program offers our customers extra benefits besides money off purchases. It also allows us to send emails and keep in touch with our customers on things that they want, that are important to them.
