Legacies help us with our goals after we’ve passed because they have the power to inspire action and the give our ideals an chance to live on through others. Given the magical potential of legacies, we wanted to support and foster conversations around legacy building and below you’ll find some of those conversations.

I’ve never been the type to want or need anything extravagant, always been somewhat of a minimalist. I do not have the desire to attain fame or have my name in lights; my only desire is that generations from now, my children and their children will know that I was here, that I did my best, and I spread my light wherever I treaded. When I started Sunflowers & Honeycombs, it wasn’t for profit, it still isn’t. Read more>>

I was once asked this same question in an interview I was doing for a kindergarten teaching job, and I remember saying that I wanted the students who left my classroom to feel like they mattered. I left the interview and began to reflect on my answers, as I’m sure most people do, and I quickly realized that that answer was true, but not exactly quite right. Read more>>

I hope that my legacy would be that I was kind and creative! That I created amazing and beautiful images for my client families to cherish for generations! I hope I have taught my kids to be kind and to never stop laughing and being silly and to find joy in the simplest of things. To always love BIG and dream BIG and work hard and make things happen! I began my journey in the hair industry with a lot of hopes, but also a lot of pressures on my back. I was a single mother, living on welfare and working as a waitress to make ends meet. I was doing everything I could to support myself and my daughter. I had my own apartment, and made sure we were taken care of, but every day the thought lingered in my mind that I wanted more, not just for myself, but the both of us. I’ve always been creative, I’ve done everything from paint, repurpose furniture and even got into doing freelance special effects makeup. I’ve always dabbled with doing hair and had friends or coworkers come to my house and I just really used it as a side hustle that I kept in my back pocket for when money was tight. Read more>>

It’s really quite simple. I hope my legacy to be that I loved God with all my heart, and devoted my life, talent and work to Him. My favorite quote reads…’When I stand before God, at the end of my life, I would hope I would not have a single bit of talent left, & I could say, I used everything you gave me.’ Read more>>

Seeing my business model now and knowing what I want the future to hold for it, I believe I want my legacy to be exactly what I’m trying to build today. I want people to walk in and know that no matter their size, no matter their bank account status, no matter what their style is there is something for them within our space. Chino Barvity was built at the intersection of style, color, design and giving life to vintage finds. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we want everyone to feel that and feel those vibes when coming to see us. Take a break from their reality and add some color in their lives! Read more>>

My passion is street photography. This Summer I will be having my first gallery, featuring photographs I have made in New York City. I hope this gallery can be like a launching pad to future shows. So what do I hope my legacy will be? I hope one day to be remembered as one of the great street photographers. I hope to be remembered as someone who captured the essence of a city, and the people that live in it. Read more>>

As I get older, I think about legacy a lot. I recently heard someone say, “unless you are Jesus, no one will remember you in 1000 years.” Outside of some historical figures, that’s really true. That seems really depressing on the surface, but in a way it’s very freeing. It makes me focus harder on what I am doing with the time I do have. It makes me want to live it up, not beat myself up to badly over failures, and just to treat the people who are right here with me as well as I can. And in a way, that’s how my legacy will live on. If we all focus on being good humans, that will always teach the next generation to do the same and then together we make a big impact on the world. Read more>>

Success is achieving results out of a set goal or set of goals— At least from society standards. When we overcome or accomplish something that we set out to do which fulfills us temporarily, we tend to chase more of that in our lives. Therefore, we are never fully in a state of acceptance and flow, but actually creating a form of lack. This is because we form cycles where we are chasing something we want more of and what we perceive we need. It’s that feeling of seeing work come to fruition we fight so hard for. These positive results are good, but there’s more to greatness and a legacy. Read more>>

Let me start by saying that I am grateful for this opportunity to share part of my story with you all. Thank you for including me! I have grown in my field over the last decade since graduating from UMiami Law to now having a very strong presence as a music and entertainment attorney largely through patience, education and tolerance. If you embody “PET” in your career, I believe there is no set path you must take, and that is the legacy I want to discuss today. Read more>>

I hope to leave a legacy that when it comes to your career, you can do whatever you want to do however you want to do it. You don’t have to have the 8 to 5 that people may expect you to have. If that’s what makes you happy, AMAZING, do it! But if not, do something else. You don’t have to follow a specific path or do a specific thing. You don’t have to settle for a job just because it pays well. If you don’t love it, don’t do it. If there are two things you love, do them both! Tradition has it’s place, but all that matters in your career is that you’re happy, passionate, find growth and challenge yourself. Read more>>

I hope that when it’s all said it done i will be remembered for the woman who broke through many glass ceilings. I’ve made history in a make dominated sport like football, I’ve become the first female athlete to own a shoe company and i plan on being the first of many more things in this lifetime. I believe in going after EVERYTHING you want in this life , no matter how big or how small it might seem to other people . I want my future children to know that their mother took whips and lashes so that when it was their turn, they didn’t have to get in out the mud the way i did . I also want to use every talent and gift God put in me at birth , so at the end of my life i can tell him , “ I used everything”. Read more>>
