We were lucky to catch up with Lindsay Lieberman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lindsay , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
I am committed to serving individuals impacted by sexual assault and cyber sexual abuse, including ‘sextortion’ and ‘revenge porn.’ These survivors often find themselves in vulnerable positions, feeling overwhelmed and silenced by their experiences. Many victims experience profound shame and, due to this shame, they don’t speak out, as they often fear that people will doubt their experiences or blame them. They often don’t know where to turn and don’t realize that help is available to them.
Let me share a story that underscores the importance of representing such victims. A client, let’s call her Sarah, reached out to us after learning that a former intimate partner had published private photographs of her online. The violation of her privacy not only devastated her self-esteem but also left her grappling with profound mental health challenges. She felt utterly powerless and ashamed, believing that no one would understand or support her. She hadn’t known anyone else to whom this had ever happened.
However, upon coming to our firm, she found safety and someone she could trust, a place where her experiences were not only acknowledged but also met with empathy and understanding. At the firm, we were able to help her to understand all of her options, and the pros and cons of pursuing different courses of legal action. Sarah felt empowered to make informed decisions about how to proceed and we supported her every step of the way.
We reported the crime to her local police department and successfully obtained a restraining order against her perpetrator.
Additionally, we assisted Sarah in removing all of the images from the internet. Through our comprehensive support and advocacy, Sarah was able to reclaim her sense of safety and control, beginning her journey toward healing.
I recognize the immense courage it takes for survivors like Sarah to come forward and seek help. That’s why I provide a compassionate and trauma-informed environment where clients can feel safe to share their stories in whichever ways feel safe and comfortable to them.

Lindsay , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
At the heart of my practice is a deeply held commitment to serving survivors of sexual privacy violations, including Image Based Sexual Abuse (commonly known as ‘revenge porn’), sextortion, cyberstalking, and harassment with unwavering dedication and compassion. With over a decade of experience as an attorney, including time spent as a sex crimes prosecutor in Brooklyn, NY, and working at another sexual privacy law firm, I bring a wealth of expertise to my cases.
What sets my practice apart is the focus on peace of mind and protection. From the moment clients walk through the doors, they become my priority. Understanding the complexities and sensitivities involved in cases of sexual misconduct, I have a unique ability to communicate with my clients in ways that leave them feeling safe and empowered. The goal is always to win cases and obtain optimal resolutions, but at my firm, we also ensure that clients feel supported and heard throughout the legal process.
Beyond my legal practice, I am deeply passionate about education and advocacy. I engage with diverse communities to raise awareness and foster a culture of respect and understanding. For instance, I work closely with Greek organizations on college campuses, empowering students to advocate for themselves and their peers, and create safer, healthier environments. I also lead digital safety workshops for parents and teens, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to navigate the online world safely.
Moreover, recognizing the importance of trauma-informed practices in the legal profession, I lead Continuing Legal Education seminars for lawyers, educating them on how to integrate trauma-informed approaches into their firms. By fostering stronger relationships with clients, these practices not only benefit the clients but also enhance the quality of legal representation across the board.

Have you ever had to pivot?
A pivotal moment in my career came when I became a mother. My daughters’ births inspired me to shift my focus from solely addressing sexual misconduct after it occurred to also actively working on preventing it from happening in the first place.
Having spent over a decade coming in to help after the abuse occurred, I reflected on what I could do to help get ahead of the abuse and prevent it. I wanted to play a part in making the world safer for my daughters and their generation. And so I created risk management curriculum for schools, Greek organizations, and athletics departments. I started presenting at schools on consent, healthy masculinity, and bystander intervention, and to parent groups about digital safety for their kids.
I am committed to empowering younger generations with the information and practical skills they need to have healthy relationships both in person and online. This educational component of my business has given me hope for a better, healthier future for our children and their children.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been leveraging a supportive network of fellow entrepreneurs and attorneys. During COVID-19, many colleagues, especially mothers, started their own firms and other small businesses with the new benefit of being able to work remotely. I developed strong connections with other entrepreneurs building their businesses while attempting to balance work and family obligations.
Additionally, I receive referrals from other attorneys by fostering collaborative relationships rather than competing. There are so many people in need out there and there is enough work for all of us. I am committed to the idea that we can all be more successful if we lift one another up.
Active memberships in professional organizations like the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, and the New Jersey Women’s Lawyers Association have also been crucial to my firm’s growth and development. Being an active member of these organizations provides opportunities for networking, community engagement, and professional development. By focusing on collaboration and community I’ve successfully grown my practice and had the opportunity to help many individuals in need.
