We recently connected with Catie Pfeiffer and have shared our conversation below.
Catie, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I started posting videos of my tiny yorkie Poppy when she was a few weeks old and weighed only 8 ounces. She’s had major health issues since she was born but it never slows her down for long. Poppy’s videos went viral and people shared the joy she brought them and I knew she needed to be shared with the world. It touches my heart every time I get a message from someone who has lost a pet or has a pet suffering with similar health issues, knowing we can make them smile, laugh and give them hope.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Poppy and Pogo are the Dynamic Duo of Yorkies – also known as the Tattling Teacups. We have over 96k followers on TikTok and 28k on Instagram.
Poppy’s story of survival has touched people all over the world. I was told she was 9 weeks old when I got her, but she was actually only 3 weeks old and should not have been separated from her mom that early. She would regularly have seizures from low blood sugar and didn’t know how to eat. We got a second yorkie, Pogo, to try and teach her how to eat and play and it worked! When Poppy was 10 months old she got bit by a tick and got Ehrlichia, a disease which caused her to have autoimmune meningitis. She had gone blind, couldn’t walk, stand or eat and we were told many times she wouldn’t survive but she’s a little fighter! After a couple weeks in ICU and $25,000 in vet bills we were able to take her home. She regained her eyesight, was able to walk and was feistier than ever after the steroids took the swelling out of her brain. She still has flare ups of the meningitis a couple times a year but I’ve been able to avoid putting her tiny body through chemo and manage the flare ups with steroids, supplements and a raw diet.
Poppy is known for tattling on her brother Pogo, but when she barks she doesn’t make any noise. Specialist think her vocal cords probably didn’t fully develop because she is so tiny.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is giving people hope, making them laugh and bringing joy into their lives. I love to hear people’s stories about their pets and we’ve even met a few of our followers which is awesome! There is a guy who goes by RxckStxr on social media and he has done some voiceovers on the videos of Poppy telling on Pogo, and of her cussing me out when she has to ride in a stroller. Working with him has been the biggest reward, the voiceovers he does are hilarious and he is so talented! The video of Poppy complaining in her stroller has over 11 million views on Instagram and continues to grow every day!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built our audience by posting regularly even when we didn’t have very much interaction from our followers. Consistency and sticking with it are key, even when you aren’t making a penny and don’t see any results. I learned it’s impossible to predict which videos would go viral, so I stopped over analyzing things and just started sharing multiple videos a day, which eventually led to more and more followers. If you are passionate about something, create content and post multiple times a day, try not to get discouraged because one video going viral can change things drastically!
