We were lucky to catch up with Elise Anna Harris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Elise Anna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents taught us the value of hard work.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 3 x Triple Negative Breast Cancer Thriver. I have a family history of breast cancer. My Grandmother had breast cancer at the young age of 44 she died. My Mother had breast cancer at the young age of 47 she died. I found a lump in my right breast in May 2002 I was 35, and a needle biopsy was performed. One week later, it was confirmed I had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I had a lumpectomy where the lump was removed. I had 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 33 rounds of radiation. In May 2005 I was 39 while having a mammogram performed calcifications were found. Three attempts were made to remove the calcifications. In January 2018 I was 52, I found another lump in my right breast. I had a needle biopsy performed. One week confirmed it was breast cancer for the third time. I had 6 rounds of very intense chemotherapy. My mother would tell me and my sister to become familiar with your body. When something does not look or feel right go to the doctor. I have a YouTube channel where I share my experiences as a survivor. My prayer is to help spread breast cancer awareness.
