Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristin Hildebrand. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Kristin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Rooted in intentionality, we specialize in designing warm, textured interiors that reflect a deep understanding of our client’s lifestyles providing a meaningful backdrop to a life authentically lived.

Kristin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Long story short, after getting my degree at Stanford, I became a professional (indoor volleyball) athlete for the next 10 years (through my twenties), competing for Team USA and living in several countries abroad. While competing and living in Turkey, Italy, Poland, Brazil, and Russia, I always seemed to find myself wandering the streets taking all of the architecture in, but what really sparked my interest in interior design was when me and my husband decided to renovate our first home. I loved it, and concurrently my USA teammates started to hire me to do their homes, which I really enjoyed. When I retired from my professional volleyball career to start a family, I finally decided to dive into interior design full time. I started KH Interiors in 2019, and it’s grown from me working alone at my kitchen table (trying to get people to take a chance on me!) to now, having my own design studio in Orange County and having designed and built custom homes all over the country. It’s been a wile ride, and I’m so grateful for all of it.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve created this business from scratch and had many moments that have made me resilient along the way. People not wanting to give me a chance in the beginning was hard, and I just had to continue to make the choice to put one foot in front of the other and keep going even when self doubt and imposter syndrome was super prevalent.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Spend time creating a positive culture centered around growth. Foster teamwork, resiliency through failure, and taking accountability for mistakes.
