Bryanna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?

I can honestly say that I have NEVER been happier than I am being a business owner. Is it all consuming and overwhelming at times? Absolutely! I am the type of person that really thrives with taking on a lot of responsibility and in Chaotic environments.

My early career was as a freelance makeup artist working in Film & TV and a freelance producer for session artists for New York, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Week. So even before opening an actual store front and running a business that involves others, I have always gravitated towards working for myself.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to not have a business email address or not have to be accessible by phone for a long period of time, but a wonderment in the sense of that would be interesting but weird. Not in a sense of longing. I truly think that this is the type of career and work that I was meant for!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am the creator, owner and CEO of Sistr Studios. We are a full service Creative house. We offer the following personal services within our creative Salon space: Hair (Cuts, Color, Styling), Aesthetics (Facials, Brows, Sugaring), Makeup & Nails. We offer the following on location services through our Agency side (Production, Creative Direction, Photography, Hair, Makeup, Nails and Mens Grooming) – For Corporate, Commercial & Editorial (Print & Video), Bridal, Brand Content Creation, and Brand Visuals.

We offer the ability to hire our company to take care of all aspects of yourself and your brand/business visually. We truly are a collective of artists and we celebrate the idea of community over competition. Our Aesthetic definitely sets us apart as well. My background in Fashion and working on the East Coast/ Europe predominately has influenced our approach.

When it comes to bridal I like to say that we do “Elevated, Editorial Bridal”. We work with high end clientele that likes that clean and classic approach to beauty. We like to push boundaries but we stay away from “trendy” and “insta-grammy” style.

We take this same approach across the board with all the services that we offer. I strive to better educate our clients on what they should expect and what to look for when it comes to booking services (no matter what they are) with artists.

I am so proud to have build this brand, name and community that continues to expand daily.
We are starting to branch out into hosting continued education and private events within our space to network and connect with an even larger audience within the beauty/ art / creative industry here in Scottsdale/Phoenix.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

WORD OF MOUTH. Yes social media is a great tool as well but we really are built on the success of our past and current clientele.

People LOVE to share the wonderful experiences that they have had with a specific service or business and that is what we have found. I am constantly getting referrals emails from potential new clients.

You give people the experience they deserve and always over deliver and you are bound to get new clients out of it!

Have you ever had to pivot?

I was 7 months pregnant and signed the lease for my new space to start the buildout process for what is now Sistr Studios.

I was at a point of growing out of my super small office/ photo studio space (300 sq ft) that I was using as a make shift studio for bridal trials and clients and then admin work and a space to shoot in.

I was at a point of either needing to throw in the towel and stay at home with my now two little girls and focus fully on family or as they say GO BIG.

So needles to say I went BIG. We expanded to a 1300SQ space that has a photo studio / creative space, Salon Space and Patio for outdoor events/ shooting.

It was a BIG pivot and the best decision I ever made.
