We were lucky to catch up with Live from Studio 201 recently and have shared our conversation below.
Live from Studio 201, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Live from Studio 201 was born from Shreeyash Shrestha’s inspiration from shows like ‘From the Basement’ and ‘Jam in the Van’. Collaborating with Safiya Sayyed, they crafted the concept on March 14th and thought of having their own live music show in the studio 201 at the Los Angeles College of Music. Initially, Shreeyash recorded ‘Crashphase’ performing three original songs, and it was engineered by Zach Zhang. The video turned out great and Safiya suggested adding the hosting/interview element to the show with the aim to boost the bands exposure and fan base. We invited Zach to be the lead engineer for the project and he happily accepted, the team solidified, marking the beginning of Live from Studio 201.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being part of Live From Studio 201 means being constantly surrounded by diverse, creative individuals. As artists, we shine when we perform and share our stories through music. Watching other artists and bands do the same is truly inspiring for everyone on the team. We gain valuable experience and industry insights through collaboration with artists. It’s so rewarding to see both emerging artists and our show gain the recognition they deserve.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our biggest satisfaction comes from seeing artists being able to express themselves to the fullest. We like to set up in a circular formation to bring out the magic where musicians feed off of each other’s energy. It is like a glorified rehearsal where musicians are free to swim in the artistic beauty they create. With Shreeyash being a music producer, he really enjoys this raw energy and the stories behind songs and artists. The best part is that we get to discover new music, hear it live, and make friends. There are so many incredible artists in the LA area, and this is our effort to shine a little spotlight on them.
