We recently connected with Mermaiid Ink and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mermaiid, thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I am extremely grateful I get to call tattooing work. I love that I get the opportunity to create and have my art roam around California :)

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi my name is Mermaiid I started tattooing at home, but quickly realized I needed to learn from actual artists that were at shops. I got in the industry in 2017 doing all kinds of tattoo styles until I found what I love doing the most, which is color tattoos.
What sets me apart from others is I try to create things that are unique and not generic tattoos.
I’m proud of the growth in myself from when I first started to now because it was a big life changing experience and just the difference between now and then shows how far I’ve came. Another thing that has made me change as a person and made my passion more to love is the trust and the bonds I’ve formed with my clients, I have created a peaceful and comfortable environment for my clients so that it doesn’t feel solely transactional. My art makes me who I am, I put all my time and effort to make sure each piece I draw and tattoo come out with all the care and love that I have for myself and my art, it is me and I strive to become an even greater artist.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing how happy my client is for there tattoo reveal , it’s fulfilling in so many ways!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The only resource I wish I knew about earlier is social media , If I would have knows how important social media would be part of my career I wish I could have explored it sooner Other than that no my learning experience was tough, but it’s what lead to me being a great artist and what motivated me to keep pushing to ,I knew going through every obstacle that eventually I would get where I want to be .
