Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Susan Mesa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Susan , appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents always taught me to believe that there is a way to solve any problem or issue I might be having. I was taught to take time to consider my options and to research solutions whether I was sourcing it from myself or finding an expert to help me. I have a strong desire to problem solve because of my parents and I never think I have to be stuck or a victim of my circumstances
Susan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
.HI, my name is Susan Mesa and I am a Soul Empowerment, Personal Success Coach. I have a diverse background in leadership, business, nutrition, body work and spiritual modalities. I entered coaching when I realized I could bring all my passions and skills together to really help transform someone’s life. The big catalyst for this was when I knew I couldn’t succeed at playing someone else’s game anymore. I was in retail management and even with the success I created in my profession I was experiencing burn out, frustration and I knew I was out of alignment. I stepped down from my position in management but stayed with the company I was with. I went back to school for health and life coaching and after a number of programs gained a mastery level.
Since I have a background in holistic wellness, and spirituality at first I wasn’t sure what I wanted to focus on with clients. Ultimately it became apparent that I had a strong philosophy I was following with each person I talked to. It is truly my belief in the individual and my desire to see them uplifted and empowered by self awareness and self acceptance that drives my conversations with them. If a person can align with their intrinsic nature through self acceptance it impacts all areas of their lives. My niche is spirituality with a focus on soul empowerment and personal success.
I offer coaching services through personally tailored and in depth one on one sessions. I have a variety of packages and consultations services.
My coaching style goes beyond mindset coaching into soul revelations and soul empowerment. My focus is to help others find deep soul acceptance. I do this by helping people clear away the chaos of the voices around them and focus in on their authentic inner self. My goal is to help my clients redefine success for themselves so they can show up powerfully in all areas of their life with balance, clarity and purpose.
I solve the problem of thinking you should be different then you are or that your life and your success should look like what you see around you or what you have been programmed to believe and do. You can’t win at someone’s else game. Why not enjoy the process of your own life and enjoy all the amazing aspects of you as you create in and move through the world.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I would say my commitment to my own personal and spiritual growth has been the most helpful at my success in my field and in life. I realized that for me to feel successful I needed to trust myself on a level that takes staying curious about my own process as a marker of success as much as any result that I could tell myself I needed to achieve.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the corporate mindset that nothing is good enough and everything has to be dealt with immediately or you won’t succeed in business. A big part of that too is believing that to succeed in business takes a lot of effort and stress. This timeline of striving and thinking I had to do more and do it like someone else with a specific timeline created a lot of burn out and emotional and mental stress responses in me. When I started my own business I purposely and methodically went a little slower in the process of growth in order to consciously deal with my old habits and stress responses. I wanted to make sure I built my business in alignment with my true values and with a mentality that this was a steady process that I could enjoy. My focus then became not on the result but on the process and the transformation within that approach to building my business was more powerful then I could have anticipated and contributed to my ability to help my clients be more authentic in how they approach life and business.
