How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

My company was started with less than $100. I was selling hair extensions as a hair extensions distributor. This distribution opportunity allowed me to sell Virgin hair extensions on a commision basis and build my client with no initial investment. I was able to focus on marketing my hair extensions and when I made a sale I was able to receive a percentage of the sell. Within two years of being a distributor, I opened my own location. I purchased my hair extensions wholesale from the same company I want distributing for. I started off small and worked my way up to becoming my own boss. The distributor opportunity provided me the ability to test the waters with no investment. I built my own clientele and built the confidence within me to sale, scale and grow a hair extensions extensions business. The the wholesaling opportunity open the doors for me to take my business to the next level and open a store front location for retail virgin hair extensions, beauty supplies and salon services. Today my company has grossed over 7 figures.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?

Currently I have my own hair Extensions manufacture in China, India and a warehouse in the United States. The process of finding a supplier/manufacture was not easy. In 2011 I traveled to India and in 2013 to China to meet with dozens of hair extension suppliers/manufactures. I narrowed down about 10 manufactures and after intense sampling, testing and reviewing the quality, I was able to narrow it down to 3 bulk purchasing manufactures. This process was very costly, however I was committed to offering my ideal client consistency, quality, a guarantee and excellent customer service. This investment to traveling directly to the supplier/manufacture and testing my products has allowed me to build long lasting relationships with my suppliers, clients and ability to travel the world.
