We were lucky to catch up with Nira Love recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nira , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Nira Love’s Fashion Boutique Brand is diverse, innovative, customer service focused, unique, edgy, whimsical and unlike any boutique online. We celebrate those who we collaborate with from models, photographers, beauty consultants, designers, entrepreneurs and other creatives in the fashion and business industry.
Within my fashions I have a boutique collection, shop my closet, vintage finds, model picks and rental pieces. We have something literally for everyone.
We do not dress for the season but for the reason. We wear leather, boots and feathers all year round as our expertise is in the edgy streetwear style which has absolutely no rules.
We also give back to the fashion & business community by providing opportunities in television, radio, magazines, fashion & award shows, photoshoots and so much more to aspiring creatives.
Nira , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Nira M. Love. I am a Serial Entrepreneur in the fashion and business industry most known for my celebrity wardrobe styling. Before starting my businesses 4 years ago I had a successful career in high end luxury management, styling and sales. I worked for luxury companies | brands such as Neiman Marcus, Max Mara, St. John Knits and CHANEL. I later became a CEO of a privately owned fast fashion retail company.
Now my brand provides several services:
– Online Boutique
– Wardrobe Styling
– Fashion Show Production | Creative Directing
– Fashion Photography & Model Coaching
– Closet Merchandizing Makeovers
– Business Consulting
– Speaking & Hosting
– Industry & Social Media Influencing
I am most proud to still be in business after 4 years. I started my first business with only $3,000, a plan, passion, purpose and the blessing of God. Now I have 6 businesses and working on a 7th.
My joy comes from supporting fellow entrepreneurs, providing opportunities for creatives to showcase their talents and cultivate a safe place to be one’s authentic self.
I recently added an Apprentice to my team. It has been so rewarding to pour into a new entrepreneur who wants to learn how to be successful running multiple businesses while staying true to who you are, connecting with amazing talent and growing professionally both personally and spiritually.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
At the height of my entrepreneur journey coming up on my 1 year anniversary I was in a near death car accident no fault of my own. It left me physically and mentally disabled. I had to seek physical and mental therapy as the accident was so traumatic it resulted in me having PTSD and unable to care for myself.
I was no longer my fun, creative, bubbly, full of life, ambitious, ready to take on the world self. It caused me much grief, sadness, depression, emotional and financial instability as I literally lost it all.
I did the work, took therapy seriously, went back to my former career in retail management so I could work on myself while regaining my financial stability. I saved almost $30,000 this time around so I could invest back into my company and solely work for myself.
Now I have exceeded all goals set forth, started additional businesses, was able to assist others on their journey and connect with amazing talent in the Carolina’s along the way.
Mental illness is serious and can be very challenging. I am so thankful I was able to overcome it and pray the Lord continues to use me as a witness to what surviving a traumatic event looks like. I’ll never be my original self again but I believe through battles you become even stronger. Now I have experiences that can help others and that’s my real blessing!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I always say “Don’t post for the now but post for the future” . You may only have 500 business followers on social media but post as if you have millions. Be authentic, consistent and connect with those who will support you on your journey.
Tips:
– Share who you are and what your brand stands for
– Go LIVE so your audience can get to know you
– Post videos so they can see your ideas in action
– Try to respond to comments and thank your followers
– Always give back to those who’ve supported you
– Be professional but also assertive when needed
– Know your worth, show your worth and your worth will be recognized, appreciated and sought after
– Lastly find time to unplug and relax. This is still a struggle for me as I absolutely love what I do.
