We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jordyn Moss. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jordyn below.
Jordyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
When I first started in the beauty industry, I was working for a large beauty retailer and took my job seriously. I really love to help people feel their best. One morning a woman came in looking for help with selecting glue-on lashes. She proceeded to tell me that she had been going through a round of chemotherapy treatments and lost nearly all of her natural lashes. I helped her select a natural looking pair and applied them for her. She had such an emotional reaction to seeing herself with lashes again, it’s something I’ll never forget. The feeling of how my one small act could have such an impact on someone else. It’s why I love working in this industry, and I still get the chills when I think of how that made me feel. It’s when I truly knew I was on the right path.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Before becoming an esthetician, I worked as aspiring makeup artist. But I was always passionate about skincare and helping people become the best versions of themselves. I found myself lurking around the skincare department a little too long on most Sephora trips. I went to esthetician school in 2017 in the hopes to hone my makeup skills, but instead was pulled into the world of skincare. I had never even had a facial before at age 24, but somehow this new curriculum piqued my interest, where I really focused in the art of a facial.
The past 5 years I’ve worked at a prominent leading skincare brand, having the incredible opportunity to master my craft and learn from industry powerhouses. I now operate my own salon where I offer customized facials and skincare services to my clientele. Some of my specialities include treating hyperpigmentation, sensitivity and barrier repair, and “graceful aging” treatments. I am especially passionate about helping clients with the understanding that skin won’t be 100% perfect, 100% of the time. It’s a living organ and the goal should always be healthy skin, not necessarily “perfect” skin.
In addition to providing the most relaxing environment I can, I really see myself as a partner to each client in order to truly help them reach their longterm skin goals. I like to remind my clients that I’m with you just one hour a month, you’re with your skin every day! It’s a true commitment but with consistency and patience, results will always come through. I don’t succeed unless my clients do.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I really feel that you attract the energy you emit! I’ve learned that not every client is meant to be your client, and that’s okay. I used to stress about needing to gain new clients and filling my books, but now I would rather have a tight group of clients who trust my knowledge and expertise, and I feel good about that. The ones who truly appreciate your work, will refer you.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Team up with your clients! Make a 3- part treatment plan for the future. When you set realistic result expectations with clients, they can more easily track the progress they are making and you’re not making promises you can’t keep. Clients appreciate honesty and transparency. “I don’t know, but I can find out!” is a phrase that leads me to hunt down even more knowledge and keeps me going. I always want to fill those gaps in what I can provide.
