We recently connected with Fernando Ingles and have shared our conversation below.
Fernando, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
Working full time as a freelance filmmaker it’s a little bit hard to accomplish specially in a city like Miami where there are so many creatives people aiming for the same goal. I used to work in retail at the same time I was a junior in college, while I was studying film.
Being consistent with my work and ethic made me take the jump and become a full time cinematographer. Being able to earn a full-time living because of my work it’s one of the best feelings in the world.
Taking your time and learning how the business works its very important, Don’t rush.
We are the only career that can re-invent yourself and your style over and over.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name it’s Fernando Ingles, I’m an award winner Director and Cinematographer, I own a video production company based in Miami FL And we provide services as, producing, directing, commercials, corporate, music videos, set design, and we also rent equipment like, cameras, lenses, grip and lighting and anything you might need to produce and bring to reality your movie or project.
I studied film at the Miami Int University of Arts & Design before opening my own video production company.
I think what set me apart from similar companies in Miami it’s the work ethic, always treating clients with respect, understanding their ideas and making them feel comfortable with the project and crew.
Thanks to that, I’ve been able to work with multiple clients all over the United States such as Walt Disney World Parks, American Cancer Society, Vizcaya Museum, Gus Machado Golf Tournament, Romero Britto, Wisin & Yandel, Andrea Bocelli, Miami Bash, Okeechobee Fest, South University between others.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I love this question, because starting in the film industry as a freelancer it’s an easy step but at the same time complicated, If you own a camera or even if you own a phone, you can record video, I know big creators myself that make a living out of recording from their phones, after that. Invest in your craft, buy more equipment, study and learn how the business side works, eventually you want to create your own LLC or Single Corp and then the sky it’s the limit. As a company we have traveled to more than 10 states and cities combined just in the last year and we where able to open our own office so we can take our video producing business to the next level.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We use social media as our very own portfolio, that’s where our clients can see all our work and behind the scenes, one of my main tips for social media it’s to keep it easy for clients to find it, and keep it consistent always posting the latest work.
