Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wei-Lun Ting. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Wei-Lun, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Hi, I’m Waylon Ting, an illustrator and motion graphics artist. I’ve known since childhood that I wanted to pursue a creative and artistic career. My parents, both art school teachers, encouraged my passion for art. I’ve always been interested in storytelling and have spent a lot of time sketching, painting, and experimenting with different art forms.
As I got older, I became even more fascinated with art and spent countless hours honing my skills. I strive to internalize my studies from schools and my ideas in mind and bring them to life using my skills, ranging from traditional fine arts to digital media.

Wei-Lun, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As I mentioned earlier, my creative path began when I was a child, supported by my parents, both art school teachers. They noticed my early talent for speedy, free-handed sketching and nurtured my abilities with a strong foundation in art education. With over 10 years of fine arts training, I’ve developed a robust set of hands-on skills and a vivid imagination that fuels my work.
My artistic journey took a significant turn when I moved to New York City and studied motion graphics at the School of Visual Arts. This city, with its pulsating energy and diverse cultural tapestry, has greatly influenced my work. It allowed me to explore various artistic mediums and integrate them into my unique style, which is driven by a love for vibrant colors and dynamic motion. Transitioning from static images to motion graphics, I embraced the challenge of storytelling through animation, striving to create pieces that don’t just exist but move and interact, engaging audiences in more immersive experiences.
As an illustrator and motion graphics artist, I specialize in quick, free-handed sketching and vibrant illustrations that capture the essence of real-life moments. My creative process knows no bounds, working across various mediums—whether it’s on an iPad, a whiteboard, or even tissue paper. My work is distinguished by its infusion of life and movement, honed through years of fine arts training and diverse techniques, from classical oil painting to Chinese painting.
What sets my work apart is its unique blend of Eastern and Western cultural influences, enriched by cross-cultural romantic encounters. Inspired by Japanese manga, classic Cartoon Network cartoons, anime, and Disney-style animations, my art reflects a love for these forms of media and a commitment to transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. I’m most proud of my ability to bring stories to life through motion graphics and my dedication to continuously pushing the boundaries of creativity. My work aims to solve the problem of static and uninspiring visuals by infusing them with energy, color, and motion, making them more engaging and impactful.
For potential clients and followers, the main things I want you to know about me and my work are that I am driven by a passion for colors and motion, aiming to create vibrant and dynamic illustrations and animations. My diverse artistic background allows me to work in various styles and mediums, always striving to infuse life into my creations. I believe in the power of art to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, and I am committed to pushing the boundaries of creativity. My work is influenced by a blend of Eastern and Western cultures, bringing a unique perspective to my art.
For those interested in my work, pricing for commissioned pieces varies based on the scope and complexity of the project. You can also find prints and digital downloads of my artwork available on my website. I am excited to share my journey with you and look forward to inspiring and being inspired by the art community.
Thank you for this opportunity to share my story. I am eager to see where my art will take me next and how it will continue to evolve with each new experience.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
In my artistic journey, my aim is to inspire and connect with others through my art. I believe that art has the power to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and create meaningful experiences. My mission is to fearlessly use my creativity in the art world and allow people to feel my emotions through my work. I have refined my skills over 10 years of fine arts training, benefiting from various techniques, from classical oil painting to Chinese painting. Drawing inspiration from Japanese manga, classic Cartoon Network cartoons, anime, and Disney-style animations, my art style reflects my love for these forms of media. Furthermore, my work is enriched by my experiences in both Eastern and Western cultures, as well as the influence of cross-cultural romantic encounters, contributing to the unique and multifaceted nature of my artwork. These experiences have also been opportunities for growth and learning, shaping me into the artist I am today.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is the ability to express myself freely and authentically. The second is to see people appreciate my dedicated work. Art is an expression of my personality and represents the visions that I aspire to. I always feel happy to see people appreciate my art; that means that they know me or have tried to know my expression through art. Art is my way of showing how I see this world and how I want to show this world. I find great fulfillment in creating something from nothing and seeing my ideas come to life. It’s a deeply personal and gratifying process that allows me to share a piece of myself with others and hopefully make a positive impact on their lives.
